RED FLAG WARNING FOR CROOK COUNTY 9/4/26

Please be thoughtful in your outside work today. Wildland fires will start easily and spread quickly without quick suppression.

Hulett Fire was paged to a smoke report 4 miles south of the Hulett airport.
Crews were on scene quickly and stopped the fire at .61 acres
Cause: Equipment hit a rock while putting in a new road

Thank you to Crook County Fire, Hulett VFD, Black Hills National Forest, Neiman Timber Company and local ranchers in the area.

Please use extreme caution while working outside today!

-Bids will be accepted until August 28th, 2026
And can be turned into Hulett Town Hall

There are few organizations more important to our community (especially now!) than the Hulett Volunteer Fire Department.

With several fires already impacting our area this summer, we're reminded just how much these volunteers do to protect our neighbors, our landscapes, and the place we all call home.

Left Creek Fire 100% contained.

LEFT CREEK FIRE UPDATE: At 282 acres, still active. No word on containment. Still 100 plus firefighters on the fire with multiple assets.. and the Devil's Tower National Monument as of this morning is still closed to the public to allow for Fire operations.
