Sheriff-Elect Ronnie Boyd

Sheriff-Elect Ronnie Boyd Ronnie Boyd is the Sheriff of Madison County, Arkansas. PROTECTING AND SERVING THIS COMMUNITY WILL BE MY FOCUS AS YOUR SHERIFF.

My name is Ronnie Boyd, Republican candidate for the office of Sheriff of beautiful Madison County, Arkansas. I believe that I have the right crime-fighting experience and motivation to lead Madison County as its new sheriff. Ultimately, it is up to the voters to decide if that is the case or not, but let me tell you a little more about myself. During my 16 years of local and state law enforcement

experience, I have handled domestic disturbances, thefts, vehicle accidents, home invasions, robberies, drug crimes and many other crimes against persons and property that our deputies deal with on a daily basis. I also have experience in proactive policing where I focused on high crime areas and criminals who were responsible for high criminal activity, predominantly drug and gang activity. Visit ronnieboydforsheriff.com to learn more about me and my qualifications to be your Sheriff.

If you do not have to get out on the roads, please don’t. Although the highways may be mostly clear at the moment here in Madison County, the forecast is calling for additional precipitation and the road conditions can change rapidly. If you do have to drive, please slow down and make sure you get to where you are going safely. Everyone’s safety depends on each of us driving responsibly.

The attached link will give you current road conditions.

I AM aware that I am now sheriff, despite what my page name says. Facebook is not allowing me to change it. Can I unfriend them?

I want to thank everyone who made their voice heard with their vote; I am listening. I am excited about us finally getting a jail to help us solve our problems, but I know there are nearly as many who may not be as excited. I want to continue to gather your thoughts on the maintenance and operations funding: why it didn’t pass this time and what could improve its chances in the future. I don’t see a need to have a vote on the matter as soon as possible. We have a lot of new faces in our county government, and I get the feeling that people want to see how different things will be.

Thank you, again, and please keep sharing your thoughts with me.

Sincerely,
Ronnie Boyd

There is a justice reform group masquerading as a less tax group. They are trying to sway public opinion on the jail expansions in Benton and Washington Counties and our attempt to get a jail here in Madison County. Just know they are closer to a defund the police group than a less tax group. They now appear to be sending texts to voters in Madison County discouraging a vote for the jail. If you choose to vote against it, that is fine; I just don’t like others hiding their true intentions to get people to do what they want. Be careful who you get your information from.

Some people still have questions on how the sales taxes are distributed. The graphic below will explain that.

Also, you only pay the state sales tax of 6.5% when purchasing vehicles. And there are no local taxes added to diesel and gasoline.

I’ve had a few people ask me what I thought about Issue 4.

I think the tax revenue for law enforcement will be minimal when spread out amongst all agencies. They are saying that 10% of the revenue collected would go to law enforcement and cancer research. I’ve seen other numbers, 15% for law enforcement and 10% for cancer. They are also touting the benefit of keeping your medical card, so you wouldn’t have to pay any taxes on the ma*****na when purchasing it. So, can they really accurately predict the amount of revenue if around 90,000 card holders would be exempt from the 16% sales tax? Some ads have been overtly dishonest by not mentioning what it actually does and only mentioning the supposed byproduct of benefiting law enforcement. If they have to be sneaky about it, you should never vote for it or anything else.

I am firmly against the legalization of ma*****na. I have seen firsthand that it encourages irresponsible behavior among many of its users and additional drug use. If the majority of people really think that we are going to be safer and better overall because more people will have easier access to mind-altering drugs, we have officially lost our collective minds. There will be a cost to society that most people will not fully understand until they see it firsthand. More child abuse and neglect cases, more drugged driving, homelessness, increased drug use, and just a general drift to less and less responsible behavior. It absolutely will not be a boon to law enforcement or society as a whole.

I believe there can possibly be some medicinal uses for ma*****na but without the high that people generally want with it. Many people think it is totally harmless, but anytime you are altering your state of mind, it has an effect on your normal brain chemistry.

Those are my thoughts on the matter. I will be voting “No.”

I want to thank everyone who has been a part of helping me gather the information to make the case on why we need a jail now and to those who have shared that information. A special thanks to Todd Thomas, Travis Dotson, and Larry Garrett for helping me answer the questions at the meetings, to Kandice Samuels for sharing the events on Madison County Moxie, and to the men and women of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department who keep showing up and putting in the work. No matter how the vote turns out, we all should consider ourselves friends and neighbors and continue working together to solve our problems.

I look forward to working with my new co-workers and serving the citizens of Madison County.

Thank you,
Ronnie Boyd
