We’ve noticed a recent uptick in online fraud attempts. Several recent victims have listed items on Craigslist, 5miles, Facebook marketplace, or similar sites and a “buyer” contacted them wanting the item, claiming to be unable to come in person to get the item. The “buyer” (a.k.a. shady, shiftless suspect) sends a check for more than the amount, asks the seller to deposit the check, and then instructs the seller to use the remaining amount to pay shipping to send the items. Ultimately, the check is fraudulent. Sometimes, these checks are linked to a legitimate company that has had their banking information stolen and duplicated. Be careful when you accept checks!

Can you help us find these suspects?

On Friday, August 7, 2020 at 12:42 PM, Hurst officers responded to a burglary of a vehicle at QuikTrip, located at 1500 Precinct Line Rd. The suspect was a black male, approximately 6’ to 6’ 2” in height, slim build, wearing a Chanel face mask. The suspect vehicle is a black, newer model Dodge Charger being driven by an unknown driver. We believe that the victim was followed from a bank where he withdrew cash. The victim then stopped at the QT where his vehicle was burglarized and the cash was stolen. We are not sure if this an isolated case.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact us at 817-788-7168, referencing case #2020002977.

Officer Delano came to us from the University of Oklahoma Police Department where he served as an officer. He attended Vanderbilt University and later graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. His collegiate journey has paralleled his baseball career where he received scholarships and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher in 2012.

We're proud to say that Officer Delano was selected as the president of his police academy class. We wish him many years of success in serving our community and are excited to have him a part of Team Hurst!

Officers were dispatched to assist a stray lab mix that appeared to be trapped down an embankment, in a creek, near the 900 block of Henson Drive. Officers Harris and Pugh had no choice but to plunge into their work to help the dog. After failed attempts to coax the dog with treats, these officers channeled their inner Cesar Millan, and rescued the dog. The dog was not injured, did not have a collar, nor did it have any identifiers. The dog was safely taken to the Hurst Animal Shelter.
Anyone know the owner? We will do our best to make the reunion happen!
