On Tuesday, November 3, Hoosiers will choose leaders at the federal, state, and local levels, and those choices shape the neighborhoods, workplaces, and public services we all depend on.

Trusted Mentors does not support or oppose any candidate, party, or ballot position. Our hope is that every eligible member of our community knows their rights, has accurate information, and casts a ballot with confidence.

* Confirm your registration. Indiana’s registration deadline for this election was October 5. If you are registered, take two minutes to confirm your status, find your polling place, and preview your ballot at IndianaVoters.com. If you learn you are not registered, sign up now so you are ready for the next election.

* Choose the day that works for you. Early voting is already open at county clerk offices and runs through noon on Monday, November 2. If you qualify to vote by mail, your county must receive your application by October 22. On Election Day, polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

* Bring a photo ID. Indiana requires a photo ID issued by the State of Indiana or the U.S. government. College student IDs are no longer accepted. If you do not have a qualifying ID, the BMV will issue one for free for voting purposes.

* A past conviction does not end your right to vote in Indiana. This is one of the most misunderstood rules in our state. Hoosiers lose the right to vote only while incarcerated for a conviction, and that right returns automatically upon release. People on probation, parole, home detention, or in community corrections may vote. Because registrations can be canceled during incarceration, anyone who has been released should check their status and re-register if needed.

*Help someone else to vote! Offering to look up a registration together, map out a polling location, or plan a ride is a meaningful act of support. The choice of how to vote belongs entirely to each voter. Our role is to make sure the path to the ballot is clear.

We are closing out Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

As mentors, you are often the steady, trusted adult a young person turns to. You don't need to have all the answers. Showing up, listening without judgment, and staying connected make a real difference.

If a someone you care about seems withdrawn, hopeless, or says something that worries you, ask them directly how they are doing, and take what they share seriously.

Help is available 24/7. Anyone can call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org, to reach the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. It connects you with trained counselors for free, confidential support, in English or Spanish, whether the help is for you or for someone you're worried about. In an emergency, call 911.
