Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) was created by Congress as the Reserve Component of the U.S. Marine Corps. The mission of Marine Forces Reserve is to augment and reinforce active Marine forces in time of war, national emergency or contingency operations, provide personnel and operational tempo relief for the active forces in peacetime, and provide service to the community. Equipped and trained to the same rigorous standards as active Marine forces, to include joint operations, Marine Forces Reserve are trained and educated to the highest levels, and provide rapid response when called upon.

Today, we honor the Indiana National Guard Soldiers, Airmen, and families who continue to answer the call at home and abroad. Your commitment embodies the very best of our state and our country.

Camp Atterbury, IN: On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve hosted 15 employers from across Indiana for a UH60 Black Hawk bosslift event.

This ESGR employer outreach event allows employers to observe military operations and activities. This event included briefings on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and the Indiana Army National Guard, who supported the Bosslift.

Employers were taken on a tour to include observing live ranges, visiting barracks, a weapons simulations training facility, eating lunch at the base dining hall, and a flight onboard a UH60 Black Hawk. Our sincere thanks to the 38th CAB for supporting this mission.

At the conclusion of the event, employers were coined by Mr. Brain Copes, Vice Chair for Indiana ESGR, and provided with a Statement of Support certificate to take back to their place of business for display.

Our hope is that by creating a culture in which all American employers value the military service of their employees, we will limit any issues between employers and Service members.

Fort Wayne, IN: Sometimes, support comes in the form of a team. For 2LT Kyle Alger, who serves with the Indiana Army National Guard, recognizing those who have gone "above & beyond" with a U.S. Department of War Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award, was the way to go!

Mr. Doug Schwartz, a longtime volunteer with Indiana ESGR, presented the Patriotic Employer Award to members of Fort Wayne City Utilities. Please join us in recognizing Veronika Meyer, Anne Marie Smrchek, and Kristen Buell.

2LT Alger shares, "My team provided paid leave while on training orders during the spring of FY25. I was absent for a space of 5 months, during which time I was fully supported in preparing to leave, and they maintained my position when I returned. My employer has made an effort to coordinate work schedules around my service obligations."

It can be difficult to navigate civilian work, with family time and military service. But employers who support their Guard & Reserve employees help make that balance work.

We congratulate Fort Wayne CIty Utilities on the recognition and thank them for their outstanding support.
