Unprecedented times create unprecedented cancellations! We look forward to seeing you in 2021!

2020 IBN Season Cancelled

Out of great concern for the safety of all the riders, participants, patrons, staff, volunteers, vendors and groups, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Indianola Bike Night season.

Safety of everyone involved with Bike Down to I-Town has always been and always will be our top priority.

Currently, state and federal guidelines require physical distancing and gatherings limited to 10 or fewer people. The Indianola Bike Night Team, after careful consideration, knows it would be nearly impossible to manage the large crowds that gather for bike night and continue to abide by the mandated guidelines.

We understand this decision may disappoint many, but know that we, too, are disappointed and did not make this decision without very thoughtful and in-depth consideration. Unfortunately, we can’t predict the future of Covid-19 and feel that this is the best decision for our 2020 season.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to seeing all of you next year for our best year yet in 2021!

Be sure to check back here on our page throughout the year for updates and interactive posts!

Do you remember being excited you were when McDonald's came to Indianola?

McDonald's has contributed to the community from the start, and we appreciate that!

In April, McDonald's contributed certificates for free meals to support our local businesses during this unprecedented time.

The Indianola Chamber has distributed the certificates to local businesses and can report that each and every one was so appreciated.

Thank you McDonald's Indianola for this kind act.

Rob Nielsen is pictured with his McDonald's certificate at our Indianola McDonald's.

Des Moines Metro Opera

The Des Moines Metro Opera makes a tough decision cancelling its live 2020 performances, but it is providing virtual viewing opportunities! We will miss all of the worldly, wildly talented performers and production crew this year!

Due to the current public health environment, Des Moines Metro Opera regrets to announce the cancellation of live performances and in-person events for its 2020 Festival Season.

While we are saddened not to be able to meet in person this summer, we do have some good news to share as well. In lieu of an in-person festival, Des Moines Metro Opera is teaming up with our friends at Iowa PBS to share online and televised presentations of our recent productions of BILLY BUDD, RUSALKA, MANON, LE COMTE ORY and BON APPÉTIT! To share these fantastic productions with audiences around the world is the realization of a long-held dream for the company.

Today, Governor Reynolds announced additional mandates for Region 6, eliminating social gatherings of 10 or less. Indianola is in Region 1. Region 6 has had a higher level of new COVID 19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. We are reminded how important it is to follow the social distancing and other mandates. Keep up the great work fellow Indianola residents. I know we are doing our best to follow the mandates to minimize the spread of COVID 19. She also announced a new "Test Iowa" program which will test people to see if they have already had COVID, Contact Tracking, and other Surveillance Testing. This data will help provide data on how best to open of the state! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!#THINKiNDIANOLAfIRST
