🔬⚡ Science Camp at MIC is stretching minds and rubber bands!
Today, our young scientists explored the relationship between force, tension, and motion through a hands-on Rubber Band Tension Lab. Using rubber bands, rulers, weights, and careful observations, campers tested how stretching a rubber band affects the force it produces.
Students made predictions, collected data, measured distances, and worked together to discover how stored energy can create motion. From questioning and testing to analyzing results, they experienced the engineering design process in action!
We love seeing curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking come alive in our Science Camp classroom. Great work, scientists! 🥽📏⚙️

🚗🔬 Science Camp is in full speed!
Today our young scientists became engineers as they investigated the forces that affect motion using ramps and race cars. Campers tested different ramp heights, measured distances, and explored how gravity, speed, and force work together to make their cars go faster and farther.
There were plenty of predictions, experiments, and exciting races as students put the scientific method into action. Hands-on learning is always more fun when it comes with a little friendly competition! 🏁
We can't wait to see what discoveries our science campers make next!

MIC Junior Elisabeth Wallace recently presented her research at the International Science & Engineering Fair in Phoenix, AZ. Elisabeth was one of two students from the East Panhandle Regional Science and Engineering Fair selected to attend this prestigious international competition. 1700 students from all over the world gathered to present their research to judges. Elisabeth developed a new process to sustainably produce super-absorbent polymers from chitosan, a molecule found in mushrooms.

A Magnet Innovation Center STEAM High School student competed against top young scientists from around the world at the International Science and Engineering Fair.

What a creative week at Magnet Innovation Center Summer Camps! 🎨✨
Our talented young artists created an incredible collection of artwork throughout the week and wrapped up camp by curating their very own art exhibit for family and friends. From colorful masterpieces to imaginative creations, each piece reflected the creativity, hard work, and unique artistic voice of its creator.
We are so proud of our campers and loved seeing them share their work with their families. What a wonderful way to celebrate a week filled with creativity, learning, and fun! 🖌️🖼️

Another creative day at Art & Theatre Camp! 🎨🎭
Our theatre students spent time working on choreography, bringing movement, expression, and teamwork to the stage.
Meanwhile, our middle school artists explored the bold colors of Fauvist painters by creating custom tic-tac-toe boards bursting with creativity! Fun fact: Fauvism means "wild beasts" in French—a fitting name for such vibrant and fearless artwork. They also painted still lifes inspired by Henri Matisse's famous fishbowl paintings.
Our cake creations looked almost good enough to eat as students took inspiration from the colorful dessert paintings of Wayne Thiebaud.
And there's even more creativity to come! Our primary artists have been studying portrait artist Kehinde Wiley and creating some incredible works of their own.
We love seeing our campers learn about great artists while developing their own unique artistic voices. ❤️🖌️✨

Some people make a school run smoothly, and some people make a school feel like home. Nurse Joy does both. 💙
At MIC, Nurse Joy is so much more than our school nurse. She serves on our school leadership team, helps run our cafeteria, supports our staff, and pours her heart into our students every single day. No matter how busy she is, she still makes it a priority to greet students each morning as they arrive on campus, making every child feel seen, welcomed, and cared for.
She shows up for our after-school events, supports nearly every club and organization on campus, and generously gives because she genuinely wants our students to succeed, make memories, and experience joy during their school years. Her kindness reaches every corner of our campus.
The love she has for our school community is impossible to miss, and MIC is better because of her. We are endlessly grateful for her servant heart, dedication, compassion, and the countless ways she cares for others every single day.
Thank you, Nurse Joy, for being such a blessing to our students, staff, and families. 💛
