Hey friends!

We're back with a bit of news! As some of you may already know, a lot of our co-founders and producers are declaring their support for progressive candidates. This of course means they're working hard in the field to talk to voters and do the other things to help their candidate win in February. So, we've been unable to produce shows with the sort of frequency we hoped for this cycle.

And since much of our team have joined campaign efforts, we made the decision to interview campaign surrogates. We believe surrogates will bring unique perspectives into the conversation and can provide valuable insight about the candidates they're backing!

Our first round of surrogate interviews will be high-profile individuals who have thrown their support behind Sen. Bernie Sanders. On Friday, we will be joined by former Ohio State Senator, Nina Turner, California Congressman Ro Khanna, and co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Ben Cohen.

The trio will be interviewed by the original PPL! co-hosts, Misty Rebik (who now serves as the Iowa Director for the Bernie Sanders campaign for President), Simeon Talley (entrepreneur and activist who is remaining neutral/uncommitted during the Iowa caucus), and Stacey Walker (who serves as an Iowa Co-Chair for the Bernie Sanders campaign for President).

For supporters of single-payer health care, which rarely gets a fair hearing in media coverage, Tuesday night’s debate was an epic moment. And Warren and Sanders seized it to directly challenge the hostility that political and media elites hold not just for this reform but for the idea that Democrats should again be the party of what Warren described as “big structural change.”

Sanders and Warren shredded attacks on health-care-is-a-right reform as “Republican talking points.”
