This evening your Ira township department members spent time a long side members from State Farm putting together fire prevention bags for our local schools for fire prevention month!

This year we are proud and very grateful to be able to partner with State Farm, Del Barbra insurance and the Ira firefighter association and women’s Auxiliary to provide fire education and goodie bags for 913 students!

This year could not have been done with out the help from our partners with donations of time and money! Ira fire department looks forward to bringing fire safety to the classroom and hopefully each household in our coverage area!

Training Tuesday: Search and Rescue

Earlier this week your ITFD members trained for off-road search and rescue. Scenerios included searching for people in the woods, treating injuries, transporting patients and rescuing a hunter that fell out of a treestand.

Today, we remember September 11, and those who ran toward danger when everyone else was trying to escape 25 years ago.

Firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, and countless others answered the call without hesitation. Many made the ultimate sacrifice. Others carried the physical and emotional weight of that day for decades afterward.

We honor their courage, their selflessness, and their unwavering commitment to protecting others.

To every first responder who stood on the front lines that day — we remember, we honor, and we thank you.

Never forget. 🇺🇸

This morning our department went to Macomb Twp Station 2 to participate in the first mile of the Walk for the Red 140 by Neighbors United. We our proud to say we have several members who participate on the full 140mile walk even with their family members by their side. Also a member who represented our township with a truck in the parade.
Neighbors United is an organization that is at the forefront of bringing awareness and help to firefighters who develop cancer from on the job exposures.
We as a department wish all the members of the walk this year good luck, easy steps and safety along the way of their 140 mile journey to Grand Rapids to continue to do the great things they set out to do for our brothers and sisters in the fight of their life.

Training Tuesday: UTV & Rescue cart

Yesterday evening firefighters trained on our UTV and procedures of using the rescue cart.

Did you know we have an off road rescue cart? This piece of equipment can be used in any off road scenario to safely rescue someone. It simply attaches to our UTV and can be pulled anywhere.
