The Irvine Public Library will be hosting a "scanning day" at Katie Wheeler Library Sunday, August 9, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Bring photos of your life in Irvine for staff to scan into our system and preserve your place in our local history.

The library will keep the scans to add to our local history collection, and we’ll send you a copy to add to yours, too!

We’ve got 250 reasons to love your library — and a big birthday is one of them!

Each Irvine Public Library location has received a set of USA 250-themed books for children and teens through a grant opportunity from the California Library Association in partnership with the California State Library.

The book sets connect to stories related to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and to the long and difficult journey toward making the ideals set forth in that document applicable for all.

These book sets are a wonderful addition to the library’s exciting lineup of summer activities and events celebrating our nation’s semiquincentennial.

Offerings include:

🔎 A scavenger hunt
🗣 American history lectures

⚠️ Heads up, Katie Wheeler Library patrons!

There will be limited parking at Katie Wheeler Library over the next two weekends due to slurry seal work in the Irvine Ranch Historic Park parking lot.

The County will be conducting work on the lot surrounding the library March 20–22 and March 27–29, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each weekend, a portion of the lot will be closed, with an adjacent portion remaining open for visitor parking. Additional parking will be available within the park along Old Myford Road and Old Irvine Boulevard. Please follow directional signage when visiting us.
