October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Crime Survivors is shining a light on advocates across the county.

It is time that we break the cycle. Physical violence, yelling, stalking, humiliation, threats, coercion, manipulation, gaslighting, and much more… we have to come together and say #nomore.

If you, a loved one, or someone you know has been subjected to domestic violence, please be aware of these crucial resources:
Crime Survivors: (844) 853-HOPE or visit crimesurvivors.org
National Domestic Violence Hotline: Call 1-800-799-7233, text LOVEIS to 1-866-331-9474, or visit thehotline.org

Hold your loved ones close and treasure every moment you spend with them. Take a moment in remembrance and prayer for those today who lost a loved one to homicide and honor their memories.

19-year-old Lisa Hullinger was studying abroad in Germany in 1978 when she was murdered by a former boyfriend. Her parents, Robert and Charlotte Hullinger, formed the nationally recognized organization Parents Of Murdered Children in her honor. Consequently, the annual National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims was established on the date which Lisa fell victim to homicide.

Today across the nation, we grieve the loss of the innocent.

Crime Survivors PSA - Sexual Assault

Most acts of sexual assault are by someone familiar to the victim, whether it be an intimate partner, friend, caregiver, or even family member.

As rates of sexual violence increase during states of emergencies (such as our current pandemic) Crime Survivors wants to let you know that help is here.

If you or someone you know is a victim to sexual violence and are unable to find a safe, quiet place to call for help, there are options for you.

Please visit RAINN.org to report privately and securely online, or your local rape crisis center and victim assistance programs.

URGENT help needed!

Crime Survivors Resource Center is in need of a storage location, ASAP. We were in the process of moving resources to a distribution center when we were informed that we could not utilize that space. As a result, Crime Survivors is seeking URGENT help from our supporters to find a new location to be donated (tax-deductible) or if our supporters could help with the annual costs for a storage unit.

If you can donate space or funds to Crime Survivors or know someone who can help, please contact us at [email protected] or give us a call at (844) 853-HOPE.

"Patricia, I got your contact info from RB at UCI, and I wanted to personally reach out to you and thank you for your help. This is an extraordinary time we're all going through, and I have had my own fair share of personal struggles, just like many others. I can't adequately tell you what your help means to me, but I can tell you that I am sincerely and deeply grateful. The constant fear of where my next meal will come from or how I'll afford my rent is an enormous burden. Your assistance in this regard is a blessing and a grace that helps me push forward and not give up on my life and education. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." L.P.

We #backthebadge because they’ve got our backs.

They put their lives on the line to protect the innocent and stop criminals from creating more victims.

They spread community values and serve with dignity and loyalty to Americans of any race, religion, or creed.

We stand with our law enforcement, as they stand for us.

Vote ‘Yes’ on Prop. 20 Because a Violent Crime by Any Other Name is Still Violent

“When Californians voted on Proposition 57 in 2016, they were promised that it would apply only to "nonviolent" offenders, but that word does not mean what they thought it meant. Most of us think that nonviolent offenders have committed low-level crimes, like personal drug use, petty theft or getting drunk in public. California voters are shocked to discover that human trafficking and domestic violence are on this list.
As a victim's advocate, who works directly with victims of these and other horrific crimes, I can't express to you how dangerous and damaging this current classification is, and how vital it is to pass Proposition 20 to change it…” - Patricia Wenskunas

If you would like to learn more about the truth behind Proposition 20, please take a look at the article that our founder Patricia published in Independent Voter here: https://ivn.us/posts/who-will-speak-for-independent-voters

Today, we honor the victims, survivors, and families of all affected by the September 11th attacks.

As advocates and allies, we honor the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and other first responders who went down in history protecting innocent lives as our first line of defense.

Take a moment of silence today in memory of this tragic day, and spread kindness to all in support of those lost and heroic.
