When SGT Isaiah Cyr enlisted in the U.S. Army, he knew he would be serving his country. What he didn’t know was one day he would be directly impacting his own community. SGT Cyr was raised in Keller, Texas and when his unit was asked to provide support to the FEMA COVID-19 vaccination efforts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area he was eager to provide aid to his hometown.

“When I heard we were coming down to Dallas, I was very excited,” Cyr said. “I’m a tanker, so the opportunity came as a surprise since I’m not in the medical field, but I’ve been helping screen patients. Honestly, it’s been very cool to help out my community.

U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, has been committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.

March is #WomensHistoryMonth - a time to celebrate the contribution of women to the United States Army. It is a time to honor the sacrifices and accomplishments of women who not only shaped our service but the country as well.

We honor all women for their military and civil service, for their support and strength, and their willingness to sacrifice everything for the freedom and liberty cherished by all Americans.

Deborah Sampson, was a trailblazer for women in the U.S. Army. She led the way for her sisters-in-arms and we are glad she did!

U.S. Army Medical Command officers work alongside Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) volunteer medical staff to prepare COVID-19 vaccinations at a COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center in Fair Park, Dallas, on March 2, 2021. Our #1 Priority is People, our People are our biggest asset; "We must take care of our people and treat each other with dignity and respect. It is our people who will deliver on our readiness, modernization and reform efforts."

No one left behind is the foundational value within our ranks. A phrase that started off on the field of combat but also carries meaning for all of us in daily life. The Army is the one work place that you will find lifetime friendships, ones who will always have your back on and off the battlefield.

Are YOU ready to be a part of the SQUAD?!

As a native of the Bronx, Staff Sgt. Deliza Rucker never dreamed she'd be in charge of the 18-wheeled force of nature she steers every day as a U.S. Army Soldier. Coming from a harsh environment of New York where the "system" more often than not determined who you were going to be, a young Rucker decided at a young age that would not be her destiny.
"Growing up in the Bronx, it was very systematic, as far as what you'd be most likely to do once you graduate high school. Where I'm from, if you graduate from high school and found a city job, that means 'you made it,'" Rucker said. "That was the path I was destined to follow until I met a U.S. Army recruiter."
Little did Rucker know within a matter of years, she would be mentoring and reaching out to the very same young people who felt a city job may have been their only option. She currently serves in the Mission Support Battalion, spending time on the road in a semi-truck showcasing Army careers and benefits all over the country. Aside from reaching the youth, Rucker says US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) provides a way for her to impact others and help young people find their path after enlisting. When asked why she continues to serve, Rucker said, "The Army gave me the opportunity to discover who I was and also to discover who I wanted to be as a leader."

Harrisburg Army officer encouraging women to consider careers in the military

“We need more females in the military,” said Lt. Col. Fabienne Dennery, Harrisburg Army Recruiting Battalion commander. “I need that next generation of women to come in and have a seat at the table. The military needs to look like society.”

Dennery kicked off Harrisburg’s monthlong initiative to honor women during #WomensHistoryMonth. She highlighted the education and career opportunities the U.S. Army offers all #Soldiers, noting she received her master’s degree two years ago and a senior enlisted Soldier in her battalion is working on a doctorate degree…paid for by the Army.

2021 Olympian 1LT English: Why I joined the Army

U.S. Army Reserve 1st Lt. Amber English explains why she joined the Army. After competing against Soldiers in skeet competitions for years, English came to a point in life where she needed a change. After becoming a part of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program and the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, this Soldier earned a spot on Team USA in the Skeet Event for the 2021 Olympic Games. Her only regret about her late choice, not joining the Army sooner.
