Over the weekend, our officers were investigating a possible DWI on the highway. While performing a Field Sobriety Test, another potential DWI plowed into one of our squad cars. We are so thankful that none of our officers or citizens were injured, but we want to take this time to remind you of the dangers of drinking and driving.
With Spring break nearing, this period is typically a time of increased travel, and our goal is to keep all travelers safe on the roadway.
Driving impaired is NOT worth it, so don’t take the chance. Remember, “Drink. Drive. Go to Jail.” #MoveOver #MoveOverSlowDown #IPDCares

Irving Police & Fire Water Rescue

Friday, February 19, Irving Police and Fire responded to a possible drowning call at Thomas Jefferson Park located in the 5000 block of N. MacArthur. Upon arrival, officers witnessed an adult female and male in the ice-cold pond about 20 feet from shore. Police and Fire personnel immediately started devising a plan to rescue the two individuals. Two ladders were placed on the ice to allow a police officer and fireman to reach the male and female. The ice broke, and all four were now in the water. Other Police and Fire personnel were able to pull all to safety. We are happy to announce that everyone has made a full recovery! Great job Irving Officers and Irving Fire Department 👏 👏 👏

Drive with caution!

Please drive with caution! One of our squad cars was hit twice last night due to ice on the roadways (no injuries). With temperatures expected to drop below freezing again overnight, any water that remains on roadways will likely refreeze. If you must drive, plan accordingly and give yourself extra time to reach your destination. #staysafe #slowdown
