After supporting the National Capital Region as part of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission, the 223rd returns home with honor, having played a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and appearance of our nation’s capital. Their dedication, professionalism, and hard work made a lasting impact, and we are proud of everything they accomplished during their mission.

As the 223rd heads home to reunite with family and loved ones, we also welcome the 890th Engineer Battalion as they arrive to assume the mission. The 890th stands ready to continue the work with the same level of excellence, ensuring continued support to our federal and local partners in Washington, D.C.

This seamless transition highlights the strength, readiness, and commitment of our Guardsmen and women, always prepared to answer the call.

Welcome home, 223rd Engineer Battalion, and welcome to the mission, 890th Engineer Battalion!

This week, the Mississippi National Guard’s 47th Civil Support Team led Operation Marlin Strike, a multi-agency exercise along the Gulf Coast focused on strengthening response to chemical, biological, and explosive threats.

The training brought together the 46th CST, Alabama National Guard, 61st CST Arkansas National Guard, CENTCOM J5 Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Division, FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, Biloxi and Tupelo Bomb Squads, Biloxi Drone Operators, and the 185th Aviation Brigade.

Teams conducted coordinated scenarios simulating real-world threats in high-traffic environments, enhancing detection, response, and interagency coordination.

Operation Marlin Strike reinforces readiness and ensures our forces remain prepared to protect communities alongside local, state, and federal partners.

Airmen and Soldiers from the 186th Air Refueling Wing, 172d Airlift Wing, 2-20th Special Forces Battalion, and Special Operations Detachment, of the Mississippi National Guard, deployed in late February to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in support of Operation Epic Fury.

“Mississippi is praying for the brave members of the Mississippi National Guard and all U.S. Service Members who have been deployed as part of Operation Epic Fury,” Governor Tate Reeves said. “Our state’s guardsmen are truly the best of the best, and Mississippi will always be grateful to them and their families for courageously defending our nation.”

Working together as a joint force, Mississippi National Guard Airmen and Soldiers strengthen the total force supporting operations around the world.

“Mississippi’s Airmen and Soldiers stand ready to serve wherever they are needed,” said Maj. Gen. Bobby M. Ginn Jr., Adjutant General of Mississippi. “Supporting this operation highlights the training, commitment and capability that define the Mississippi National Guard.”

🛑Operational Security (OPSEC) starts with what we share online‼️

Social media is a powerful way to stay connected and celebrate the accomplishments of our Soldiers and Airmen, but even small details can unintentionally reveal sensitive information about locations, missions, or timelines. Those details can be used by individuals who wish to harm our service members or their families.

Before posting, take a moment to think: Does this reveal where someone is, where they’re going, or when they’ll be there?

Protect the mission. Protect our force. Protect our families. 🇺🇸
