Women’s History Month Highlight: Ms. Jasmine Barnes

Ms. Jasmine Barnes of Canton, Mississippi, is a Certified Public Accountant and financial strategist with more than a decade of experience in public accounting, financial institutions, and state government. She currently serves as Deputy Director of Internal Audit at the Mississippi Department of Transportation, where she helps oversee federally funded transportation programs and works to ensure accountability and responsible use of public funds.

In addition to her public service, Ms. Barnes is the founder of J Barnes CPA, PLLC, where she advises individuals, businesses, and nonprofits on tax compliance and financial strategies. She is also active in community leadership and mentorship, supporting efforts that strengthen professional development and economic opportunity.
