Buick Model 10 1908

This gentleman was jazzed up about his new Buick! I'm going to put the back of the card in the comments as well, as he tells his favorite gal about his car and visiting the Flint and Jackson Buick plants. ( Jackson plant was on today’s Wisner St., last known as the Kelsey-Hayes plant.)

The Model 10 became Buick's most popular model quickly and outsold the Model T in 1909 and 1910.

Central State Bank-Jackson, Mich. Invitation to Grand Opening July 15, 1916

Located at the corner of Francis and Michigan Avenue. Michigan Ave., and Liberty joined at Francis. These roads don't exist there today and are part of the Consumers Energy complex. The map in the comments show a vacant parcel in 1907 where this was built. It was just south of the Dalton Hotel, and SE of the Otsego.

Growing up on N. Stoney Lk. Rd. (Now Stony Lk. Rd.), we had an early recognition of the camp down the road. I have vague memories of being in there as a child one summer, but recall very little of the events.

From their website:
YMCA Storer Camps sits on approximately 1300 acres in the beautiful Irish Hills region of southeast Michigan. Founded in 1918 as the summer camp facility of the YMCA of Greater Toledo, YMCA Storer Camps has long served the communities of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Much of what YMCA Storer Camps has become is owed to the direction of Robert Dale “Doc” Miller. Doc Miller served as director of Storer Camps for over 2 decades. The original 8 acres of Storer Camps sit on the South Center with a chapel dedicated to Doc’s memory. Over time, Storer Camps grew to include most of the waterfront of the 240 acre Stony Lake. Storer Camps expanded to offer Outdoor Education starting in the late 1960’s as one of the first programs in the United States.

Currently, Camps operate on both sides of Stony Lake in what is called the North and South Centers. The North Center is home to the Outdoor School, as well as Youth and Teen Camp. The South Center operates from May-September and is the home of our Specialty and Day Camps.

These are the only 2 RPPC that I have featuring a Napoleon residence and a farm. I found a Thomas Nichols on the plat map that would have been right about where Flagstar is today along M-50. That was the only Nichols residence identified. I do remember some older homes that were along that stretch when I was growing up, but they were in quite disrepair at the time.

This postcard is a little rarer than others, featuring Napoleon Town Hall. I'd guess the photo to be c.1910, but I learned this week looking at maps, that town hall was in the middle of today's park and had a band stand between town hall and the Baptist Church! Has anyone ever seen a picture of the band stand? Love to see one if you have it! I've also attached a snapshot of the 1911 plat map showing the location. Per Jay Hawley-The old town hall at the Napoleon Township Park was moved to the back of the Methodist Church and used until remodel.
