The continuing DoD theme for the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Observance is “Remember! Celebrate!
Act! A Day On…Not A Day Off,” in commemorating Dr. King and supporting a national day of public service.

Dr. King wrote the ‘I’ve Been to the Mountaintop’ speech while visiting Bimini, Bahamas. On April 3, 1968, Dr. King delivered this speech at the Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee:

“Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand
with a greater determination. And let us move on in these
powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it
ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better
nation.”

Dr. King’s speech delivered a powerful message, and although
his life was tragically taken soon after, to this day,
continues to echo the importance of togetherness, readiness,
determination, and opportunity—traits long upheld by the DoD
invaluable key workplace values.

When are you going to have a press release (/ Missions / Civil Works / Shore Protection / Nassau County) and update the Construction Progress Map for Nassau County announcing W912EP-21-C-0002:

"Great Lakes Dredge & Dock LLC, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, was awarded a $15,844,050 firm-fixed-price contract for maintenance dredging. Bids were solicited via the internet with two received. Work will be performed in St. Mary’s, Georgia, with an estimated completion date of June 5, 2021. Fiscal 2020 operation and maintenance (Defense) funds in the amount of $15,844,050 were obligated at the time of the award. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville, Florida, is the contracting activity (W912EP-21-C-0002)."

OBTW: The Nassau County Link on the page '/ Missions / Civil Works / Shore Protection' is broken, landing on Martin vice Nassau County.

As a Fernandina Beach oceanfront landowner, I would have preferred to learn about the project from the ACOE rather than a letter from the subcontractor doing Pre and Post-Construction Structural Surveys.
Stop the flow into the Caloosahatchee! You've done enough damage!!!
You guys are awesome. Keep the excellence up!
I recently completed a trip through the Okeechobee Waterway with a friend in a 27 ft sailboat. It was a great trip and we received great help from all the lock operators, particularly Jackie Verwers at the Franklin Lock. Since this was our first lock encountered in our west-to-east trip, Jackie took extra time explaining what lay ahead and also had suggestions of where we might overnight. Throughout the trip, lock operators were friendly, efficient and helpful, making for a nice experience. Even before the trip we received a ton of helpful information from Erica Skolte from the Jacksonville office. The USACE is a class act! Many thanks all.
Does anybody ever answer the phone it in your facilities?

I’ve been attempting to contact the Jacksonville office in the Tampa office and cannot speak to a real person.
Army Corps team,
Thank you for your service.
I am ready to start discussing the device our team is working on with the public and want to crowdsource the ideas and development in order to get this out there as quickly as possible to help as many people as possible in order to slow the spread of COVID 19 to retail workers. This is going to be a long post and maybe it needs its own group, but I feel like you are all my best allies to get this into production quickly to help save lives so I have opted to instead of trying to patent this and make money off of this to just give this away to the world.

The device is a currency, card and phone sanitizer. There is an expired patent for a somewhat similar device made by Hitachi. (https://www.google.com/search?tbm=pts&sxsrf=ALeKk00HWTws6RFlf7qQKFq3FoGknnQcFg%3A1585329385329&source=hp&ei=6TR-XuKLEYrS-gTumpGYBw&q=cash+sterilization&oq=cash+sterilization&gs_lcp=CgZwc3ktYWIQAzIGCAAQFhAeMggIABAWEAoQHjIFCAAQzQI6BAgjECc6BQgAEIMBOgIIADoECAAQQzoECAAQCjoHCAAQFBCHAjoECAAQDVDuHFjjL2CyMWgBcAB4AIABb4gBtwqSAQQxNy4xmAEAoAEBqgEHZ3dzLXdpeg&sclient=psy-ab&ved=0ahUKEwiipPKWlLvoAhUKqZ4KHW5NBHMQ4dUDCAc&uact=5)
or https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2013068973A3/en?oq=cash+sterilization

The current design utilizes already existing parts to speed its manufacture to get out asap. The front of the device would be a currency acceptor similar to this (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ICT-Brand-high-quality-L70-currency_62216047613.html?spm=a2700.7724857.normalList.12.6c2f4512SbdEq2)
The plan would be to partner with a manufacturer who makes these products and then give them the plans to create the new device so that they can ramp up production quickly. They have that tools and production experience to do this efficiently. It could also be a modification of a portable scanner device that changes out the bulbs to use the UVC bulbs.

Once the card or currency is placed into the rubber rollers, there would be glass plates on top and bottom of where the item to be sterilized passes through. On the other side of both plates of glass will be the appropriate wattage UV-C bulbs (here is an example that could work: https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/114477/SYLVANIA-21062.html) that will sanitize the item. We need help designing the electrical and mechanical plans for this. We would like it to be both AC and DC so that users at places like farmers markets and other uses that don't have access to power can use them. We see a commercial and consumer version so people can sterilize their items at home, in the car and retail workers will have them at their registers. This can also be modified to deal with mail and documents for hospitals, offices and shipping/mail companies.

We are also looking for research on the length of time required to sanitize a currency, glass, paper and plastic surface and the required wattage of the bulb and distance from the item to be sterilized. I am sure that this information is out there or being studied currently.
We will need someone to design the enclosure so that the bulbs can be easily changed. This could be adapted to post a bill feeder to process large amount of cash for banks and other retailers who handle large amounts of money. A similar product could be upsized to deal with shipping boxes to be placed on delivery vehicles, warehouses and such. There are lots of applications for this.

Currency and cards are dirty. Even before Covid 19 a solution like this was needed and now the time is right with the huge amount of cash being spent by states and federal government on solutions to this disaster. I am concerned about the health of my fellow Americans. I think this would help a bunch of people and all of the folks I have discussed this with from VC folks, industrial designers, folks at the NWIRC and doctors think this would be a useful tool and could make a bunch of money. Let's do this together and help save lives. If this is successful and there is wealth generated, lets all help each other with it.

Below are some basic drawings I did. I am not an engineer or artist, obviously. I am a school administrator. Message me if you have any questions or want to get involved.
I think the first step is to make an autocad drawing and build a prototype. We could also get this out there once we have this for Collective Commons support.

What are the real chances of Hoover D**e failure should a Cat 2 Hurricane dump copious amounts of rain over Lake Okeechobee, still in the cone of possibility, as early as Monday morning?
Sent from Dennis Henley’s son.

Good afternoon,

We hope all is well with everyone.

Just a friendly reminder that it has now been around 5 months since our father, Dennis Sr's passing. That being said, Arlington National Cemetery scheduled his burial for this upcoming Wednesday June 19th at 1230pm.

I advise that you plan to arrive around 12 noon for the security search of your vehicle and belongings. I've placed the address of the Chapel at the end of this email, which is where the service will commence.

Please pass this information on to any family or friends, who would like to join.

Thank you.

Chapel address:

I've driven South of Clewiston on Hwy 27 and observed 2 or 3 locks or gates on the South part of Lake Okeechobee. Why are they not used to release the water instead of the Caloosahatchee River ???
Five Permanent Engineer Equipment Operator Positions are open in Clewiston FL, 33440 and are listed in www.USAJOB.Gov, type 33440 in location and they should pop up.
