Team along with hosted two-day planning charrettes focusing on the Central and South Florida (C&SF) Flood Resiliency Study. Day one was held at the Broward County Government Center and day two was held at the Museum of Discovery and Science. The conversations were plentiful and comments, notes and further discussions will ensure the South Florida region remains strong and environmentally sustainable.
The continuing DoD theme for the 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Observance is “Remember! Celebrate!
Act! A Day On…Not A Day Off,” in commemorating Dr. King and supporting a national day of public service.
Dr. King wrote the ‘I’ve Been to the Mountaintop’ speech while visiting Bimini, Bahamas. On April 3, 1968, Dr. King delivered this speech at the Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee:
“Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand
with a greater determination. And let us move on in these
powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it
ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better
nation.”
Dr. King’s speech delivered a powerful message, and although
his life was tragically taken soon after, to this day,
continues to echo the importance of togetherness, readiness,
determination, and opportunity—traits long upheld by the DoD
invaluable key workplace values.

Today is International Women In Engineering Day! Check out the video below where we feature a few of our "Glamour Girls" and talk about the outstanding contributions women have made to the field of Engineering and other industries across our nation! Video by Brigida Sanchez
Women engineers are the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' "Glamour Girls." The women of WWI and WWII were given the title of "Glamour Girls" because they filled in for men who were called to arms. Like the women of the past, our Engineers empower each other and seek to inspire all women to pursue a career in STEM. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the largest employer of female STEM professionals in the US Government. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is prepared and ready to respond to natural and human-made disasters and overseas contingencies. When disasters occur, USACE teams and other resources are mobilized from across the country to assist our local districts and offices to deliver our response missions. Every year, USACE, as part of the federal government’s unified national response to disasters and emergencies, deploys hundreds of people to provide technical engineering expertise and to promote capacity development at home and abroad. In this video, learn more about our preparedness and the team effort that is required to support these critical functions.
Have you heard of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering with Nature® initiative? This initiative was launched in 2010 to enable more sustainable delivery of economic, social and environmental benefits associated with water resources infrastructure. EWN is the intentional alignment of natural and engineering processes through collaboration. It is a cross-cutting program of activities resulting from collaboration among multiple Civil Works Research, Development and Technology programs and non-USACE partners.
