Last month all of our child advocates received seeds in the mail, promoting growth in child advocacy during this difficult time. Mrs. Barbara Jean Parker, from Sampson County, sent in this awesome picture of her seeds sprouting! We are so excited to see them bloom!

Each CASA and GAL volunteer is appointed by a judge to advocate for a child’s best interest in court. Our volunteers help judges develop a fuller picture of each child’s life. Their advocacy enables judges to make the most well-informed decision for each child. #VolunteerAppreciationWeek #ThankYou http://bit.ly/becomeaCASA

Atop a boom lift, Hobbton High School Principal Michael Warren and William Phipps, father of Hobbton senior Lizzie Phipps, put up banner after banner around Newton Grove with the faces of Hobbton High's Class of 2020. The project was made possible by the school's Parent Teacher Organization, businesses, and sponsors. More than 80 banners went up, and it came at an opportune time as students are missing out on the twilight of their high school careers. “I feel honored to be part of a small community that loves us so much, that they’re willing to do this to show their support,” said Hobbton senior Anna Sutton, who took time Friday along with fellow senior Michael Pineda and others to pose by their respective banners. “It’s really cool. It’s a big moment for seniors to see their pictures across town.” Full story and more photos in this weekend's Sampson Independent, out tomorrow.
