Repost from @infernoculture - An English Reeve system coordinates the control lines for up and down movement. The Prusiks serve as a backup, should any of the control lines fail.
There is a lot more to tensioned highlines than two ropes between two points. There are several different ways to construct these systems. Highlines can be categorized into two categories, the first being horizontal highlines. These highlines are for the most part level and, like all highlines, go from point A to point B. The second category is angled highlines. These highlines span from point A to point B on an angle. An example could be a highline spanning from the top of a cliff to the bottom. There are variations of these highline systems, like slackline highlines and dual-track highlines.
Tensioned Horizontal Highline System
When dealing with highlines, there are several drawbacks you must be consciously aware of, the first being the stress put on the anchors and equipment. Anchor angles and the forces exerted on the anchors, is very important to keep the angles you create in your system between 45 and 60 degrees. Doing this will, for the most part, distribute the load force equally amongst the anchor points. In tensioned highline you can have a lack of an angle between the anchor points (highline connections). Knowing anchor forces, it’s easy to see and understand that these anchor points are going to see a lot of stress.

The Rethreaded Alpine is definitely something to carry in the toolbox. Great for rigging that will be left insitu such as fixed ropes and hand lines.

The key is to start with a slip overhand, round the object, then retrace mirror image. Enjoy from Rope Geeks

Drone technology is now being used to respond to a significant number of different types of incidents.
Flood mapping, communications, fire reconnaissance, search & rescue is only a few viable examples.
Does your department/emergency service use drones? If so, please describe what applications they are used for.

When spreading doors with combi tools the tip can easily perferate the pillar or door. This is because the tips of a combi tool are significantly smaller than on spreaders. To avoid this I like to use the strength of the door. If possible I try to spread the hinge itself, it is the strongest point on a door.

Train for the unexpected. Sometimes the little things will make the greatest impact. Keep a water bottle in your man in machine kit, punch a hole in the top when ready to use. Let the person control how much water they put on their own hand. It will help them stay focused, and who knows better then them if it heats up. #heavyrescue44 #ghostsquad44 @ghostsquad44

The Munter hitch creates friction by having the rope rub on itself and on the object it has been wrapped around. There is no localized abrasion on any part of the rope as it is a continuously moving hitch. One very useful aspect of the Munter is its reversibility; it can be pulled from either side of the rope and it still works just as effectively. The Munter hitch is a self regulating hitch. The heavier the load the tighter the bends in the hitch become and therefore creating more friction and self regulating.

Extrication operations involving late model vehicles pose challenges rescuers are increasingly likely to encounter in the field. The use of advanced steel in late model vehicles requires rescuers to make informed choices about where and how to cut. Tool management techniques maximize tool output while also protecting tools from potential damage. Advanced electronic features and safety systems escalate the risk of injury to rescuers and their entrapped patients. To effect rapid patient extrication, rescuers must arrive equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to quickly evaluate the scene, deploy the appropriate tools, and safely remove their patient(s). Get your training requests in and join us April 26th, 27th, and 28th for 2 ½ days of hands on training and experience at Forest Volunteer Fire Department, in Bedford, VA. Maury County Fire Department

This morning at 6:50 am MCFD was dispatched to a reported MVA head on collision on New Lewisburg Hwy at the Fountain Creek Bridge. Responding units: Rescue 1, Squad 1, Engine 10, District Chiefs 1 & 5, and Asst Chief Periut. Arriving units found two vehicles heavily damaged with one of them being upside down, over a guard rail, resting on the edge of a cliff. Engine 10 arrived quickly due to it already being out on a lift assist call with EMS. Units put E10’s Edraulic tools to work to quickly extricate the occupant of the Jeep.

Units set up an LZ for Air Evac. One driver was airlifted and one was transported by ground by Maury EMS. Great job to all agencies for hard work early this morning (THP, MCSO, Maury EMS, towing agencies)

Today Squad 54 and Truck 30 got dispatched for a child stuck in a storm drain. Due to the drain’s grate being stuck, crews had to think outside the box for a solution. Using 2 halligan bars and an outrigger pad to make an elevated base, crews wrapped a chain around the bars of the grate and inflated a high pressure bag to create vertical lift and release the stuck grate. Crews were then able to safely remove the child unharmed from the storm drain.
