Never trust anyone who slanders/libels (false allegations) on so-called “social media.”

Anyone can post anything, even blatant lies, on “social media.”

Good, smart people know it for what it is.

And ignore it.

Facebook people,

Please be aware of some of the false information, lies, exaggerations & other false rumors posted on social media.

I think you ALL know that we at the OCSO protect all children from crime & any form of criminal abuse.

When it comes to our attention, we thoroughly investigate it if it happened in our jurisdiction, or we refer it to the agency who has jurisdiction where the allegations happened.

This is what we do. We protect kids from predators.

Every day.

07/24/2019

Yes, we are busy. All five divisions of the OCSO.

Personnel & Administration. Recruitment, hiring, training, supplies, permits, IT, standards, budgets, more...

Investigation. General crimes, narcotics, special victims, juvenile, crime scene forensics, Internet, evidence, more...

Patrol Operations. Responding to calls, visibility in neighnorhoods, welfare checks, business checks, safe roads, crime reduction, rescue operations, more...

Detention center. Safeguarding inmates, classification, feeding, supervising, providing first aid, transportation to counsel, escorting to court & other facilities, more...

Civil. Court house security, school security for kids & teaching staff, serving court papers, managing civil process, managing court execution on property, records, transportation of inmates, reserve officers, community outreach, more...

And, of course, the command staff who keeps this agency CLEAN & keeping it heading in the right direction.

This is what we do. Every day.

07/14/2019

Never allow an “Ol’Boy” network to take root.

Ever.

We did away with it about 4 1/2 years ago & treated everyone equally.

06/12/2019

My philosophy of hiring personnel:

1. We select & hire the best applicants.
2. We train them for success.
3. We keep them.

Said frequently. Mean it.

05/22/2019

From Sheriff Miller:

"There is only ONE race.

The HUMAN race.

ALL humans were created in God's image. It matters NOT what the color or shape.

Never let identity politics divide us.

"...One nation, under God, indivisible..."

I've traveled the world over, seen people of all shapes, colors & beliefs, and saw mostly good & some not so good. The good outnumbered the bad. Almost always."

05/18/2019

From Sheriff Miller:

"To inform the people I work for:

Today, Friday May 17, 2019, I spent all day in Raleigh to attend the quarterly board meeting of the NC State Domestic Violence Commission. We were joined by women's advocates, researchers & guests.

After introductions, we broke into several committees where specific matters were discussed. Then, everybody came together & the committees briefed everyone about what was discussed "in committee." Legislative, victim advocacy, transportation, financial, shelters, prevention, etc.

We then had a brief lunch "on site" & went back to work. Then, two presentations before adjournment.

Traffic up was good, early in the morning. Traffic back was horrible, because there was a rear-ender collision on I-40 just after US 70 merge.

Nice to be back home. Work was done by everyone on the NC DV Commission.

There is no excuse for domestic violence or sexual violence. Ever."

05/14/2019

From Sheriff Miller:

“I’ve seen so much & put up with so much, as many of us who wear the badge have.

I don’t let the stress get to me. None of us can solve every problem. We’re all human.

If I had to do it again, I’d raise my hand again & swear the Oath.

And I support my people.

It’s a MISSION.”

About one-and-a half year ago, the Onslow County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) hosted a "Place of Worship Security" workshop at the county government building at Burton Park. We gave a presentation, followed by a SME (subject matter expert) forum to discuss & answer questions. It was well attended.

Now, in the wake of evil aggression against other places of worship, WE are considering holding another workshop about this very important issue. Because WE at the OCSO want our churches, synagogues, temples & other places of worship to be safe, where congregants can express their faith in God.

Believers, please let us at the OCSO know if your pastor, priest, rabbi or imam would like for us to hold another workshop. If so, give us the time to organize one & to find a place large enough to hold it. Hopefully, central location in Onslow County.

WE at the OCSO want our places to worship to be safe & secure.

Thank you!

Sheriff Hans Miller

Today, Thursday, April 25, 2019, we held our seventeenth (17th) Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Town Hall Meeting at the Hubert VFD fire station.

Thanks to the Hubert VFD for opening your house to us & the public we all serve!

Judging by the feedback of the people who came out for this town hall, I believe it was a success. After my introductions & overall briefing, a good question & answer session was held. Smiles were seen.

FOR the people!

04/21/2019

Today, we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior.

Happy Easter, everyone!

And let’s always remember all those who are on DUTY around the clock. Cops, firefighters, EMTs, medical staffs, dispatchers & all members of our nation’s armed forces!

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) graduated our FOURTH Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy session this evening, April 11, 2019.

This is a ten week session that meets on Thursdays, between 6 to 9 p.m.

The people who attended loved it. And the members of the OCSO loved putting it on.

Next session in the fall of 2019, after summer vaca period.

04/03/2019

Stay “on principle.”

Be polite,
Be professional,
Be strong,
And always, be HONEST.

This is our OCSO principle of public service to the people.

OCSO Citizens LE Academy.

This evening, Thursday, March 28, 2019, the citizen participants are running law enforcement scenarios, often dealt with by officers "on the job."

Canine demo, traffic stop, prowler call, domestic disturbance, suspicious subject, others.

The people, the citizen participants of the fourth session of the OCSO Citizens Academy appear to be happy with what they have learned so far, in the 10 week, Thursday evening session. Some have told me so when I spoke to them this evening.

I would like to take this opportunity to THANK my wonderful OCSO people who have been a part of this very successful program.

FOR the people!

(Next academy, in the fall)

Every day. 24/7. Day & night.

Deputies respond to calls for service from citizens.
At the OCSO, Deputies are well trained to be polite, to be professional, to be strong & to always be honest.

Detention Officers supervise inmates in the jail.
At the OCSO, Detention Officers are well trained to follow the State NCAC, OCSO policies, good procedures, support civil rights & to always watch their own back.

Civilian staff at the OCSO perform much needed labor about confidential records, court papers, permits & numerous other functions.

OCSO Command Staff members (leaders) answer citizen phone calls, talk to citizens in person, investigate issues, take appropriate action, plan for the future, inform, advise, train, correct, decide, direct & do a lot of other things to keep the agency clean.

At the OCSO, we serve with HONOR & INTEGRITY.

Professionals!

FOR the people!

It was a good time today to be out among the people. Something I do on a regular basis.

Lots of good comments were received, even from citizens that I never met before. No matter. Good comments about the OCSO are just good.

Started at the Boro (Swansboro, NC) business expo put on by the Boro Chamber this morning. Lots of people & vendors were there!

Then, the Walton’s open house at Nine Mile, where an outstanding Bluegrass band from Cumberland County gave a show worth watching! Great talent!

There’s always something going on in Onslow County & it’s fun to be out among “We the People!”

02/08/2019

Our first session tonight (Thu, Feb 7) of the Onslow County Sheriff's Office citizen's law enforcement academy was great!
We have a very motivated group of citizens who participate & have fun doing it!

01/31/2019

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has signed up 25 citizens for the fourth session of the OCSO hosted “Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy.”

Graduate citizens of the past three sessions have told us (OCSO staff & myself) that they really enjoyed the 10-week, Thursday evening program & that it was @n ‘eye opener’ for them. It was fun & a great learning process, we were told.

Our 4th session of the OCSO Citizen’s LE Academy will begin next Thursday, February 7, 2019.

We (OCSO) are looking forward to it & we love to ‘connect’ with our citizens!

When you love what you do, you do it the best way that you can.

FOR the people!

01/27/2019

It’s Saturday night.

People are at home, doing what they want to do, or they are out there, somewhere, having a good time with others, or partying.

At this time, law enforcement officers are on duty, responding to calls for service.

Or, in between citizen calls for service, they might be out in neighborhoods, in their patrol zones, looking around for suspicious activities. Being proactive.

Or, they might be checking business doors to see if anything needs to be reported.

Or, they might just be on the roads & highways, making sure that others are not threatened by unsafe drivers.

Cops. Deputy Sheriffs, Police Officers, Troopers, Agents & others.

Keeping our city, county, state & country safe for all people.

Please support all cops.

The Montford Point Marines & the Auxiliary hosted a great scholarship event this evening, at their CP.

The "Black & White Scholarship Ball" was very well attended by many of us who care about the Dr. MLK legacy & the education of young people.

It was very good to see friends at the event & to have a good time talking, listening & having a good meal.

Semper Fidelis! God bless America!

I think it should be a requirement to have the following KSA’s (knowledge, skills & abilities) to run for any public office:

1. Honesty. Integrity.
2. Maturity
3. Common sense
4. An open mind
5. Morals. Principles.
7. Perception. Eyes & ears.
7. A good attitude
8. A brain. Intelligence.
9. More...

No self-serving, egotistical, power hungry candidates need apply.

The flags at the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, ...

... our National Ensign, our NC State flag & our county flag are flying half mast (Navy & Marine Corps) or half staff (Army & Air Force) out of respect for President George Herbert Walker Bush.

May you rest in peace, President Bush. Thank you for your honorable service to our United States of America, as a Naval Aviator during WW2, then with the Intelligence community (CIA), then as a Vice President and as our President.

Thank you & KUDOS!

God bless your family.

Yesterday, October 25, 2018, the Onslow County Sheriff's Office held OUR annual "all hands" meeting.

Awards were presented. Information was given. Training was presented.

The success of any organization depends on the people in it who contribute to the mission.

At our OCSO, everyone contributes. Detention officers, civilian staff, deputies & command.

Service FOR our citizens!

Re-Elect Sheriff Hans Miller

This evening, Thursday, October 18, 2018, the Onslow County Women's Center staff, with other citizens of Jacksonville, the Base & the County, held a candlelight vigil at the old train station next to the park in Jacksonville.

It was well attended by citizens - - women, men & also children, who want to send a message to everyone else that domestic violence is UNacceptable & must stop.

We released balloons into the sky to symbolize victims of domestic violence. That includes not only the battered victims, but also the people around them who see or hear it, especially children.

We MUST break the cycle of domestic violence & make it "totally UNcool!"

Domestic violence (DV) is a sign of a weak mind. It includes battering & psychological abuse. NEITHER are acceptable.

Arguments & disagreements can be had. But no one should ever lose self control & go into DV.

Let's get the word out & make it stop!

In position.

The County EOC & the Office. Back & forth.
And a little patrolling, just to keep up with what's going on in the county.

A couple more days, then the cleanup.

We'll survive.

This evening was the first session of our OCSO Law Enforcement Citizen's Academy.
A good group of citizens interested in the inner workings of our OCSO.

When elected in 2014, Sheriff Miller promised to ensure that traffic safety would be a priority of the Onslow County Sheriff's Office. Today, that promise continues to be realized. OCSO was awarded the first year of a four-year DWI Team grant. This funding provides $600,365 to establish and finance the first year of the team. It will provided salary, benefits, vehicles, equipment, and other items for 100% costs. The team will continue to operate for four years, receiving an estimated $1.4 million in funding, with the county only matching approximately $340,000! Funding is matched for the entire team over four years, Year One - 100%, Year Two - 85%, Year Three - 75%, Year Four - 50%.

This is a huge grant and exciting opportunity for the sheriff's office! Members of the Sheriff's Office will present the grant to the county commissioners on August 13th. Please take a minute and contact you commissioners to express your support for this grant.

Relect Sheriff Hans
Congratulations sheriff Hans Miller way to put all the haters in their place .
Obviously I was only one of the many! Congratulations Sheriff Hans Miller, Semper Fi!!!
Good luck today. Regardless of personal feelings toward any candidate, I thank you for putting yourself out there to the betterment and service of this County and it’s citizens.
Whete is the election gathering after the polls close??
I can't vote for you, because I'm not a NC resident... we're military & kept our residency. However, I have to say all I've seen you do and when I've personally spoke to you, I'm so very impressed. I come from a small drug infested town- thanks to Chicago...with legitimately crooked cops, so I'm really glad to see the crack down and sincerity behind it... . I have small kids, as many others do and it's not something I ever want my kids to ever experience.... I don't even like taking them to the gas station because of the people you run into. I feel like you are doing amazing with what resources you have, and I'm really looking forward to the rest of my time here, with you as Sheriff. If you could accept volunteers for anything I know my husband and I would love to, so please pm if that's possible.
Lied did you not - about Boyd Brown?? Raeford Brown & Elliott Potter brought out the truth and exposed what really happened and the truth set him FREE. GOT EGG ON YOUR FACE - HUH?
Good luck in the election Mr. Miller! I defended you but i doubt you will ever see my post on his website.
I am praying for your re-election. Looking forward to seeing great things continuing in Onslow County.
Sheriff just wanna let you know that you're doing a good job and I voted for ya last time and you got my vote this time. But that's not why I'm writing you. I live on ole 30 rd and every Sunday and sometimes through out the week there are about 10-15 motorcycles ( crotch rockets) that come by my house doing 100+mph. Not hating on them it just is getting old and afraid that someone is going to get hurt. I have twin nieces that live next door and I over heard them saying that they freighen them when they come by. Very loud
Voted for Hans Miller today!
Voted today. Let's do this!
