Education | The Arts & Athletics | Nutrition | Strategic Events We are a grassroots organization that can pivot when necessary to meet needs in our community. In 2020 alone Kim's Open Door provided dance ,art and music for 102 students, distributed more then 11,000 pounds of groceries, served 447 students from 16 countries with educational programs and partnered with 506 volunteers .

There is so much life and joy to be found when we step outside our campus and into the neighborhoods. Whether we are distributing groceries to hundreds of families at an apartment complex, sharing games and laughter at a block party, or enjoying a live musical performance together at a Super Saturday, our strategic events are all about presence. We go where our families are because there is power in community.

English is more than a language, it’s a bridge to opportunity. 🌎📚

For refugee and immigrant children, learning English is about so much more than understanding a classroom lesson. It’s about finding their voice, building confidence, making friends, and discovering a sense of belonging in their new community.

At KOD, our ESOL classes go beyond vocabulary and grammar. We’re creating a safe and encouraging space where students can learn, grow, ask questions, and discover something powerful: “I can do this.” 💙

Because every word they learn is another step toward confidence, connection, and a brighter future. ✨

Community does not stop at our campus doors. Through our strategic events pillar, we are committed to meeting our neighborhoods right where they are. Whether it is bringing mobile food pantries directly to local apartment complexes, hosting lively block parties with our wonderful partners, or welcoming kids to campus for Super Saturdays filled with games and mentorship, everything we do is rooted in connection. Because the power of community means showing up, together.

When our students sit down for a healthy meal, they are getting more than just food—they are getting the foundation they need to focus, learn, and thrive. Our soccer program is more than just a sport—it’s a place where children build confidence, learn teamwork, develop leadership skills, and find a community where they belong.

A calm space to learn, grow, and connect. Kim’s Open Door proudly provides after-school programming designed to meet our students right where they are. From one-on-one tutoring and homework help to language acquisition, our campus is built on steady support. We could not do this without the heart and time of our tutors and volunteers.
