Attention friends and families, will be be sharing information from the MCRD PARRIS ISLAND, SC - OFFICIAL PAGE Please continue to monitor our pages for updates or follow the Parris Island page.

Good afternoon Marines, sailors, civilians, friends and families of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and the Eastern Recruiting.

We continue to work closely and coordinate with South Carolina and Beaufort County Emergency Services to monitor Hurricane Florence and assess the safety of our families, recruits, and permanent personnel.

This morning we sent additional staff to Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany in Georgia in an effort to set conditions for the ability to conduct recruit training aboard the base. With this afternoon's announcement by Gov. Henry McMaster of the manadatory evacuation of 26 South Carolina coastal counties and their hospitals, we are evacuating Parris Island tomorrow.

This includes the Marines of Charlie Company, who will have a graduation ceremony at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany before boarding commercial transportation to begin well earned leave. The ceremony will be filmed as promised yesterday and broadcasted on our command website and social media platforms so everyone has the opportunity to witness their Marine's graduation.

The commanding general of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and the Eastern Recruiting Region and the commanding of Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort will release a video message discussing the current situation in greater detail shortly. Thank you for the patience and support.

I would like to congratulate Mr. Blue Eddleman for taking the steps to becoming a Marine. Today he officially became a Poole in the Delayed Entry Program. It has been a long awaited time coming but he was patient and wanted to step up to the challenge that it takes to becoming a Marine. It took almost a year, but he did what it took necessary and persevered to get there. Congratulates to this stellar young man for having the endurance to overcome in order to get to this moment.
