You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

These beautiful words have been speaking to me recently - I hope they speak to you too.

“So let us pick up the stones over which we stumble, friends, and build altars. Let us listen to the sound of breath in our bodies. Let us listen to the sounds of our own voices, of our own names, of our own fears. Let’s claw ourselves out from the graves we’ve dug. Let’s lick the earth from our fingers. Let us look up and out and around. The world is big and wide and wild and wonderful and wicked, and our lives are murky, magnificent, malleable, and full of meaning.”

Hi friends! This summer I relocated from the East Coast to Colorado. It’s been a big change, but it’s brought me back to teaching environmental education and spending lots of time in nature. Colorado has no shortage of outdoor adventures :)

I’m now based in Jamestown, northwest of Boulder. I look forward to connecting with more folks out here and leading nature mindfulness events in the future!

When I finally got myself outside today, I found some cool things! Lots of moss, ferns, and even some daffodils on the banks of this little creek. Nature therapy at its simplest. 🌿

I’ve never noticed trees blooming as much as I have this March. Looking through the woods, there’s a faint haze of color from the buds and blossoms on trees and bushes - like these vibrant red flowers on a silver maple.
