Across the State, CSCD’s have been tasked with submitting a quilt square representing their department and region. Once all submissions are in, they will be sewn together to make the quilt! See below for some of the submissions, and East Texas CSCD quilt pattern.

Also, submitted with the pattern of why it represents our CSCD. We continue to remain proud and humble to work for such spectacular CSCD.

Like the pines that define East Texas, our department continues to grow while remaining firmly rooted in a strong foundation. Over the last eight years we have expanded the East Texas CSCD by adding Shelby, Tyler, and Panola CSCD to our family. This has expanded our reach and strengthened our commitment to the communities we serve.

Our roots run deep. Established in 1973 under the guidance of the late Judge Harold Kennedy, formerly known as the First Judicial District CSCD was built on the belief that accountability and compassion can work hand in hand. That foundation continues to guide us today. In 2018, with the first merge, under the visionary leadership of Chris Thomas. The East Texas CSCD was born.

Every day, community supervision professionals help cultivate hope by providing opportunities for rehabilitation, supporting recovery, and encouraging reform. We believe that while people may make mistakes, those mistakes do not have to define their future. Through guidance, accountability, and unwavering commitment, we help individuals grow beyond their past and embrace the promise of a second chance.

With strong roots and new growth, East Texas CSCD remains dedicated to building safer communities and brighter futures for generations to come.

This past week, while attending meetings at CJAD (Community Justice Assistance Division) we had the opportunity to see Director Chris Thomas’s photo displayed alongside the other members of the Judicial Advisory Council (JAC). It was a proud moment to see his service recognized.

Our Director, Chris Thomas, serves as a member of the Judicial Advisory Council (JAC) for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice , Community Justice Assistance Division.

The Judicial Advisory Council plays an important role in advising on policies, standards, and issues that impact community supervision across Texas. Chris’s appointment reflects his leadership, experience, and unwavering commitment to strengthening probation services while supporting our courts, officers, and communities.

We are proud of Director Thomas’s representation of our department and the field of community supervision throughout the State of Texas.

This week, we recognize the dedicated professionals who work every day to make our communities safer while helping individuals build better futures.

Probation, parole, and pretrials services week recognizes those who serve in capacities of public safety advocates, mentors, case managers, accountability partners, and agents of positive change. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout our communities.

Every day, they balance compassion with accountability, support rehabilitation, connect people with valuable resources, and help reduce recidivism all while serving the courts, victims, and the public with professionalism and integrity.

Thank you to those we who answer the call to serve with dedication, resilience, and heart. Your commitment to public service makes a difference in countless lives.

Congratulations to two of our outstanding staff members on their recent accomplishments!

Kirbie Humble has recently been elected to serve as a Director on the Texas Corrections Association Board, and Lianne Allen has been accepted into the RTO Program, where she will help train and mentor new Community Supervision Officers.

Their involvement in these roles brings valuable knowledge, experience, and positive representation to our department.

Today our team is participating in a TRAS Booster and Audit Training led by two of our very own , Staff Trainer Lianne Allen and Auditor Roxane Marek.

Their knowledge of TRAS and auditing continue to strengthen our team and ensure we provide the highest level of service and accountability. Thank you both for sharing your expertise and helping us grow professionally.

Huge CONGRATULATIONS to our very own, Dawn Kiser for receiving the Lewis Amonette Award!

This award, named in memory of the late Lewis “Butch” Amonette, Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Pecos County, was initially named the Ace Award . The award is given to a probation professional who has both administrative duties and supervises a caseload.
