* Until 330 AM CDT.

* At 933 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Jefferson City, California, Ashland, Columbia Regional Airport, St.
Martins, Russellville, Jamestown, Centertown, McGirk, Easley,
Hickory Hill, High Point, Marion, Lohman, Eugene, Hartsburg,
Elston, Wilton and Sandy Hook.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 1152 hours, Cole County Emergency Services along with Cole County Fire Protection District, Cole County Sheriff's Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were dispatched to an accident with extrication in the 16000 of State Route B near St. Thomas.

Initial 911 callers reported multiple patients still in the vehicle. Based on these reports, 3 advanced life support ambulances and two chief officers for a total of 10 personnel were dispatched to the incident. Due to the remote location of the incident medical helicopters from Mercy Life Line Air Medical Service and Phelps Air-Air Methods were also added to the call.

Upon arrival emergency services personnel provided initial patient care and assisted Cole County Fire Protection District in extricating the patients from the vehicle and prepared them for transport.

In total, two patients with serious injuries were treated and transported by air medical helicopters to a trauma center in Columbia. A third patient was evaluated and refused care and transport at the scene.

Any additional inquiries regarding this incident should be directed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Age hasn't slowed down Dirk "Buck" Protzman. The 62-year-old EMT's days at work for Cole County EMS can be pretty hectic, he said Friday as he worked at the the department's downtown station.
