💙💚🪱Our 6th grade Swampowls conducted scientific observation of worms and handling living organisms with HEART. (Worms have 5 pairs of Heart like structures called aortic arches, that is a lot of HEART!)

In partnership with LSU AgCenter , our 7th and 8th graders kicked off the year with a service project in the garden by creating 500 packets of seeds for distribution to other school gardens. Thanks to LSU Agriculture Agent, Anna Timmerman, who supplied the donated seeds and packing envelopes. Ms. Anna will distribute them to school gardens in the Greater New Orleans area.

Let's celebrate one of our student Swamp Owls who came back to give back. Laisha graduated in 2020 and is currently working as a SPED Co-Teacher at DJOD. Laisha plans on continuing to be a part of Kenner Discovery once she graduates from college and to become a teacher instead of a co- teacher. When Laisha was a student, her favorite class was Mrs. Rosher's class, "...because she always encouraged me to keep pushing and to never give up. She encouraged me to work with kids."

DJOD started the year off strong! Our students did awesome with routines and procedures! Can’t wait to meet our smallest swamp owls ( pre k and kindergarten) on Monday and Tuesday!

To get ready for our amazing students, 460+ members of the Discovery family came together as one crew to connect, celebrate, and gear up for the journey ahead. Our teachers and staff from across every campus reflected on the remarkable progress our schools have made, showed their school spirit, and reminded one another what makes Discovery such a truly special place. From chants to dancing to heartfelt moments of pride — this is what it looks like when a team believes in something bigger than themselves. Here's to an incredible year ahead.
