The City of Jefferson is moving forward with plans to redevelop the former Tyson property along the Rock River.

The vision for the site includes new housing, expanded green space, and additional recreational opportunities along the river, along with improvements to a long-vacant and underutilized property.

The project would also involve environmental cleanup and infrastructure improvements to prepare the site for future development.

This effort represents a long-term investment in Jefferson’s downtown and overall quality of life.

True and accurate information from the City of Jefferson about the Jefferson Family Aquatic Center.

True and accurate information from the City of Jefferson about the Jefferson Family Aquatic Center.

There has been some inaccurate information circulating on social media regarding an item on last night's Common Council agenda related to the Jefferson Family Aquatic Center. At last night's meeting, the Council approved a professional services contract with Water Technology, Inc. to conduct a physical condition assessment of JFAC. The assessment will evaluate the facility's major systems and produce a final report outlining current conditions, anticipated maintenance and repair costs, and projections about the facility's long-term needs.

To be clear — last night's action was not a decision to close the pool. We are planning to open for the 2026 season on June 8th and look forward to serving the community this summer.
The approval also was not a decision to fund repairs, renovations, or any new construction. The assessment is simply the responsible first step in understanding the long-term needs of a facility the City of Jefferson has proudly operated for over 50 years.
