SHERIFF’S CORNER – AUGUST 2026

After careful consideration, the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office has decided not to renew our contract with FLOCK automated license plate reader cameras for the upcoming fiscal year.

While FLOCK technology has proven to be a valuable tool in assisting law enforcement, we must carefully weigh the benefits of any technology against its cost and the trust of the community we serve. Given concerns surrounding the use of this technology, including circumstances that have occurred within our own agency, we believe that continuing the program is not the best use of county resources at this time.

With the support of the Jerome County Commissioners, we have elected to redirect the funds previously used for the FLOCK program toward the salaries of our dedicated employees. Investing in the men and women who serve Jerome County every day remains one of our highest priorities.

We appreciate the continued support and trust of our community and remain committed to using taxpayer dollars responsibly while providing professional and effective law enforcement services.

Thank you for your continued support.

Idaho steps up impaired-driving enforcement ahead of Labor Day

Jerome County, Idaho — The Jerome County Sheriff’s Office will participate in a statewide Labor Day impaired‑driving mobilization from August 19 through September 7, 2026. The enforcement period is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, coordinated in Idaho by the Office of Highway Safety.

During the mobilization, the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office will increase patrols and focus on identifying drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Impaired driving remains a leading factor in serious crashes statewide, especially during holiday weekends.

“Our goal is simple: keep people safe,” said Sheriff Taylor. “If you choose to drive impaired, you put yourself and everyone around you at risk. We want people to enjoy the holiday, but we also want them to make responsible choices.”

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, use a ride‑share service, or find another safe way home. Those who see an impaired driver on the road should call 911 when it is safe to do so.

For more information on impaired‑driving prevention, visit shift‑idaho.org.

📚 School is back in session! 🚌

As students head back to the classroom, the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to use extra caution on our roads.

Please slow down in school zones, stay alert for children crossing the street, and STOP for school buses when their red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.

A few extra seconds of patience can help keep our kids safe. Let’s work together to make it a safe and successful school year!

Slow down. Pay attention. Keep our kids safe.
