We, at Joliet Township Animal Control, try to place as many animals as we can for adoption. We also try to help out other animal controls when we are able. Sometimes, we get animals in that may have behavioral or medical needs that we aren't able to help. Those animals are placed on this page to try to find a rescue. JTAC TRANSFER TEAM GUIDELINES:
1. JTAC Transfer Team page is a page used to network our animals that are looking for placement with a licensed rescue from Joliet Township Animal Control. The animals on this page are not available for adoption through our facility, and must be pulled by a licensed rescue.
2. We are always looking to expand our rescue partnerships with other shelters. To apply to be approved to pull from our facility, please email [email protected]. The rescue coordinators will reply as soon as possible and ask for licenses and referrals.
3. If you are not affiliated with a rescue and would like to help, there are many ways! You can share the original facebook post, join a foster program through a rescue, or also pledge for medical treatment/donation to the rescue that pulls.
4. Please email [email protected] with any inquiries or requests for additional information. If approved to pull and interested in pulling an animal, ALL HOLDS MUST BE EMAILED. We cannot release an animal without an email from the rescue. Once an email is sent, we will reply with confirmation. Please have your transport information set up prior to placing a hold. We will need day and time of pick up and name of transporter.
5. All pickups must be done during regular business hours. We are open Monday-Friday from 830-4pm or Wednesday until 630pm. We are not open on the weekends for releases. If an animal has a “pull-by-date”, the animal must be picked up prior to*
6. Holds are honored for 48 hours* and must be picked up during business hours.
7. Rescues are responsible for arranging transport. We can always post for a transport request with volunteers, if needed. All transports must provide their own carriers, as we have limited supplies
8. Out of state rescues: We are open to out of state rescues upon approval. Rescue is fully responsible for transport, rabies vaccine, and health certificate.
9. We have limited medical that we can do at our facility. Feel free to email us and ask what medical has been done.
10. Rescues are welcome to make an appointment to do their own evaluations. We have limited staff and try to post as much as we can. Scheduling an evaluation does not place a hold on the animal. Thank you for joining our village and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us!
