THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE.

This past Saturday, our Beautification Team Community Cleanup was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when people come together with one purpose… to take pride in the place we call home.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing City of Jonesboro staff, Chief Code Enforcement Officer Derry Walker, and our incredible Beautification Team for organizing and leading such a successful community effort.

From our Boy Scouts, to City staff, to neighbors and residents… everyone rolled up their sleeves, grabbed a bag, and got to work. Together, we cleaned block after block throughout our city.

But we did more than clean streets.

We showed community pride.
We showed ownership.
We showed what it means to care for one another and for the city we call home.

And we’re going to keep it going.

Because reshaping Jonesboro doesn’t happen all at once. It happens…

One block at a time.
One event at a time.
One cleanup at a time.
One policy at a time.
One conversation at a time.
One post at a time.

Little by little. Block by block. Neighbor by neighbor.

We are reshaping ONE Jonesboro… together. 🧡

THANK YOU, JONESBORO!

What an amazing time we had at Lee Street Park for Jonesboro Neighborhood Day!

This event was a true team effort. A huge thank you to Public Works, Jonesboro PD, JCC Staff, JYCG, and our incredible City of Jonesboro staff… the best staff in the county! Your hard work and dedication made this day possible.

Most importantly, thank you to our residents who came out, brought their families, and celebrated community with us. And to everyone who grabbed the mic for karaoke 🎤… the talent in our own backyard was incredible!

I’m already looking forward to next year. Bigger. Better. Together. 🧡

UPDATE FROM THE OFFICE OF COUNCILWOMAN SANTIA FOX 🧡

Hello, Jonesboro family! Here’s a quick update on the work happening at City Hall.

At our August 10 Council Meeting, your governing body, alongside our City Attorney, worked to strengthen protections, accountability, and good governance by addressing:

• Chapter IX – Employee Grievance Policy Update
• New Policy Governing Elected Officials’ Interactions with City Employees

Change is not coming. Change is HERE.

We’re strengthening policies to protect and retain our employees, putting necessary checks and balances in place, and building the staff needed to serve our growing city.

What’s next? A complete personnel policy overhaul, department evaluations, new positions to close service gaps, and additional police officers patrolling our streets. FY2027 Budget and Mileage Rates.

We’re also excited to welcome Brandon back to the City of Jonesboro as our new Public Works Director!

And next on my list: our street signs and roads. It’s time to improve the appearance of our city and make sure your taxpayer dollars are going where they’re needed most.

I’m extremely proud of this governing body. We decided early this year that we were going to hold hands, work together, and do the work. The meetings are long, we’re holding additional meetings, and the work isn’t always easy…but we’re doing it.

Good Afternoon, Family!

I pray you all had an amazing weekend. I wanted to share a few updates on what’s happening around the City of Jonesboro this week.

🧡 Monday, August 3
Join us tonight for our City Council Meeting at 6:00 p.m. We also have our regularly scheduled Work Session. We hope to see you there!

🧡 Tuesday, August 4 – National Night Out
Our amazing Jonesboro Police Department is hosting National Night Out! Be sure to check the City of Jonesboro Government website for event details.

Bring your family, your pets, and the kids out for an evening of fun while getting to know our Chief of Police, our officers, and many of your elected officials. It’s a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the relationship between our community and those who serve us every day.

🧡 Wednesday, August 5 – Design Review Committee
The Design Review Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. If you’re interested in development, architecture, or the future look and feel of our city, you’re invited to attend and learn more.

🧡 Around Town
You may have noticed the new America 250 signs and our Keep Our City Clean campaign throughout Jonesboro. These are initiatives supported by our Beautification Department as we continue working to make our city cleaner, more beautiful, and more welcoming.

Change takes time—but it’s happening, and we’re making progress together.

🧡 Monday, August 10 – Special Recognition
Please join us at our 6:00 p.m. Council Meeting as we recognize one of our outstanding residents, Ms. Ellen Divens.

Many of you know Ms. Divens for her tireless advocacy in helping bring Logan’s Law to Clayton County. Through her leadership and partnership with Chief Roberts, this important initiative became a reality. We look forward to celebrating her service and dedication to our community.

🧡 Monday, August 17 – Historic Preservation Committee
Interested in preserving Jonesboro’s rich history? Join the Historic Preservation Committee Meeting at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall to learn more about the committee’s work and upcoming projects.
