Don Cooney for Kalamazoo Dr. Don Cooney served 11 terms (26 yrs) on the KalamazooCity Commission. He ran for Congress twice. Far too many children live in poverty.

He is Associate Professor, Emeritus at WMU School of SocialWork and Associate Director of the Walker Institute for the Study or Race and Ethnic Relations. Today in Kalamazoo, too many are eager to work, but can't find sustainable housing or a well-paid job. Young people face formidable challenges in a new economy and a global pandemic. Radical injustice diminishes us all. Yet, we are not powerless. This city has exceptional resources: outstanding schools and colleges, world-class businesses, skilled human service organizations, compassionate churches, a remarkable array of programs in art, theatre and music, a diverse community with talented people who care about each other. Join us in our efforts to realize Dr. King's vision as we work to:
-Develop an economy which provides accessible housing and living wage jobs for ALL people.
-Help each family succeed and realize full potential.
-Lead each child to realize the Promise.
-Keep our City beautiful and thriving.
