Kalamazoo Public Schools (KPS) is a vibrant, progressive district and home to The Kalamazoo Promise. The Kalamazoo Promise is a unique scholarship that provides up to 100 percent post-secondary tuition and fee assistance for every Kalamazoo Public Schools graduate meeting attendance and residency requirements. Begun in 2005, thanks to the generosity of anonymous donors, The Kalamazoo Promise has a

warded more than 8,700 KPS graduates over $165 million in scholarships. The Promise is good at all public universities and colleges in Michigan, as well as at the private schools associated with the Michigan Colleges Alliance. KPS staff and students, with the support of parents and community organizations, continue to improve student achievement in a profound way, including climbing graduation rates. KPS consists of 25 schools; 17 elementary (PreK-grade 5), four middle schools (grades 6-8), a virtual school (grades K-12), and four high schools. Elementary students enjoy art and music, while middle and high school students can participate in an array of sports and extracurricular activities. Students at all levels have a variety of enrichment opportunities. KPS is the largest, most diverse district in the region. We appreciate and value our diversity and view it as part of our richness. At KPS it is our mission to nurture the dreams of all students and empower all students to contribute to a better world.

🥁🎺 It may still be summer break, but the marching bands at Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix High Schools are hard at work at band camp! 🎷🎼

Both schools have exciting shows in store, and have a new addition to their marching fields this year: an observation tower that lets band directors get a bird's-eye view of the field.

We can't wait to see the result of all their practice at their competitions and during halftime performances at home football games this fall!

🩺🏀 Today is the last day of free sports physicals for KPS students! 👟🎾

The Free Family Health Center Mobile Health Unit will be in the Linden Grove Middle School parking lot today (Aug. 6) from 2-6 p.m.

Health forms must be filled out by parents, and a parent must be present during the appointment. Scan the QR code to request an appointment, but a spot is not guaranteed. Walk-ins are welcome.

It's Throwback Thursday!

This week, we get a look at the history behind Lindbergh School at 5272 West Michigan Avenue.

Oshtemo Township had several schools including Drake built in 1873 at the corner of West Michigan and KL Avenues. Renamed Lindbergh, the school moved west over US 131 in 1955 to a new three-room building. Annexed to the Kalamazoo Public Schools in 1957, it closed in 1965. Sold to the Whitman Saddle Company fifteen years later, it currently is the location of the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education operated by Western Michigan University. Lindbergh School continues to be on the site.

Join the Free Family Health Center Mobile Health Unit for ✨FREE✨ sports physicals for KPS students before the school year begins.

All clinics will be held in specified school parking lots from 2 - 6 p.m.
