𝗞𝗩𝗘𝗧 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁

On June 2nd, 2026, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant in the 5300 block of Clato St, in the Township of Cooper, following an investigation into drug sales.

The investigation concluded with the seizure of approximately 1 ¼ pounds of methamphetamine, multiple fi****ms, and evidence of drug manufacturing and distribution.

The 38-year-old female suspect, and the 32-year-old male suspect were arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and will be facing multiple felony charges. On June 4th, 2026, the female suspect, identified as Rebecca Elizabeth Patterson, was arraigned in the 8th District Court and issued a $50,000 cash or surety bond. The male suspect, identified as Cortez Christopher Akers, was issued a personal recognizance bond.

𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers responded to the 700 block of Trimble Avenue for a report of shots being fired. On scene, officers located a 21-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound.

Shortly after, officers were notified that two additional gunshot victims, a 19-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, arrived at a local hospital via private vehicle. All three victims received medical care. The 19-year-old male is listed in critical condition.

Initial investigation indicates that shots were fired during a large party at a residence in the area. The suspect then fled the area on foot after the shooting. A search warrant was executed at the residence by the Kalamazoo Metro Special Weapons and Tactics
Team, where evidence of the shooting was located. Additionally, a 29-year-old male was arrested on unrelated weapons charges during the incident. He will be arraigned on Monday.
