🐝 Observing honey bee behavior from the entrance in today’s video. (I apologize for the wind crackle in the beginning. Always windy in Montana!) These bees overwintered beautifully with a VSH queen from . I just gave them a bit of nectar to prepare for queen grafting and splitting them up in a month. Not only are these bees fastidious with dealing with their own mites, but this is the smallest amount of early spring work I have ever had to do for my bees. There were zero corpses on the bottom board, and they cleaned up every single bit of the winter crabby patty I had put on their top bars and had taken out every bit of the parchment paper that it had been laying on. There was no need to reverse the boxes And the bees Let me know pretty quickly that I was completely unnecessary in getting in there and it was time for me to close it up and get out and let them do their thing! 🐝
