ONE WEEK LEFT to support your favorite nonprofits in the Great Fish Community Challenge.

The Flathead Library Foundation is excited to participate in the 2026 Great Fish Community Challenge hosted by Whitefish Community Foundation. It is our largest fundraiser for our Flathead County Libraries and we are setting a goal to bring in a $25,000 pounder on behalf of Flathead County Libraries!

Can all you water whippers help? Whitefish Community Foundation will award a percentage match on the first $25,000 we raise. What a great way to multiply your giving!

Today's book was chosen for Flathead Area Mountain Bikers and is Cycling the Great Divide: From Canada to Mexico on America's Premier Long Distance Mountain Bike Route by Michael McCoy

Funds raised for FAMB during the Great Fish Community Challenge will will preserve and advance mountain biking in the Flathead through riding skills clinics, trail stewardship education, and the maintenance and construction of trails for all users on public lands throughout the valley.

After school one afternoon, a father and daughter spent an hour in the Children’s Department at the Kalispell Library, immersed in collaborative play.

Together, they created a vibrant unicorn battle scene on our light table—a playful, imaginative standoff that showcases the magic that happens when creativity and connection meet.

This moment is about more than just play—it’s a living example of how the library serves as a vital community space where families come together, learning happens naturally, and imaginations take flight. Funds raised for the Humane Society during the Great Fish Community Challenge will support a life-saving adoption program to give homeless cats and dogs a second chance at a healthy life by ensuring that all homeless pets, including newborn litters, are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.

Funds raised for the Kalispell Education Foundation during the Great Fish Community Challenge will be used to will provide funding for exceptional learning opportunities in Kalispell Public Schools that go beyond the limitations of the standard budget. These opportunities are designed to inspire, engage, and enrich student learning.

Libraries are more than books—they’re lifelines, launchpads, and gathering places where curiosity thrives and communities grow. Flathead County Library serves over 100,000 residents, offering free programs for all ages, safe spaces for learning and connection, and reliable access to technology for job seekers, students, and seniors.

Many older adults turn to the library for tech help that is simply not accessible elsewhere. That impact was clear when an older patron came in hoping to print a chair-yoga routine from her phone. When the app wouldn’t allow it, staff helped her find a free alternative, placed holds on senior yoga books, and sent her home with one she loved. She left not only with the resources she needed, but knowing that someone was truly there to help.

Your generosity makes moments like these possible—leaving a lasting impact on our community.
