Behind every bright future is someone who believes in what’s possible.

Today, we’re recognizing our Bright Futures Friends, individual donors whose personal generosity helps the NKC Schools Education Foundation support students, staff, and schools across our district.

Their gifts help us respond to real needs, open doors to meaningful opportunities, and continue building a stronger school community for every student.

Thank you to our Bright Futures Friends for believing in this work and investing in NKC Schools.

Big ideas took the stage at the 2026 Pitch Competition Finals! 💡

After a semester of building business plans, refining pitches and competing through multiple rounds, North Kansas City Schools Advanced Marketing and Entrepreneurship students presented their original business concepts to district leaders and community partners.

These students brought creativity, confidence and serious entrepreneurial thinking to the room.

Thanks to our partners at CSD Credit Union, the Education Foundation is proud to award scholarships to this year’s finalists:

💡 $2,000: Avery Hodges & Max Watson, Oak Park, HW Services
💡 $1,500: Analeigh Barnhart, NKC, InspireHer
💡 $1,000: Aila Kraynak, Staley, Grain Bin
💡 $500: Mikenna Main, Oak Park, Triple Double

Thank you to our business partner panel: Todd Connery, William Palmer, Eleanor David and Edward Watts.

Congratulations to these student entrepreneurs. We can’t wait to see where your ideas take you next!

This is one of our favorite surprises of the year.

The Relentless Champion Award gives staff the chance to lift up peers who make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of students, families, and coworkers. We are proud to help celebrate these everyday examples of care, commitment, and excellence across NKC Schools.

From a bright idea to bringing home GOLD! 🥇

Winnetonka Industrial Technology Students recently earned gold at the Missouri TEAM State Competition after creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind furniture and home décor from raw wood and glass.

With guidance from teacher Trenton Gramlich and support from a Kahler Innovation Grant, students explored hands-on woodworking and stained-glass crafting right in the shop class.

From design to final finish, they built more than projects. They built creativity, problem-solving skills, craftsmanship and confidence.

Way to go, Tonka Nation ! 🛠️✨

A big thank you to the Keller Williams Kansas City North realtors for coming together to support students and families at Crestview Elementary!

Through their fundraising efforts, they helped reduce meal debt for families facing financial need, removing one more barrier so students can focus on learning, growing, and being kids.

We are so grateful for community partners who step up in practical, meaningful ways to help create bright futures for North Kansas City Schools students.
