ROAD CLOSURE ALERT City of Raytown, Mo. Government:

Sept. 2 (9/2/26) at 7:30 pm until Sept. 3 (9/3/26) at 6 am: Ramp and lane closures on I-435 to EB I-70 for MoDOT pavement work.
Traffic modifications include:
CLOSE the I-435 ramp to EB I-70.
Double lane closure near the I-435 ramp to EB I-70.

Join Legislator Jalen Anderson, 1st District At-Large, and Chairperson Donna Peyton, 2nd District At-Large for an important community listening session to discuss pending legal challenges to Jackson County’s conversion therapy ban and proposed substitute legislation. Theresa Bullington from the Jackson County Counselor's Office will also be in attendance to help explain the legal issues surrounding the pending litigation and the proposed legislative options, as well as answer questions.

This is an important issue and we believe that community input is vital as we navigate the legal challenges and the best path forward for our LGBTQIA+ community members.

The 33rd Regular meeting of the Jackson County Legislature will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Legislative Assembly area of the downtown Jackson County Courthouse in Kansas City, MO.

Extreme heat into this week. Please stay safe and aware!

Prolonged heat is expected to continue through the week with highs in the mid 90 to near 100 with heat index values between 100 to 105. Little relief is expected at night when lows will only fall into the mid 70s to lower 80s.

City of Independence, MO, Government is looking for nominations to honor individuals for excellence in public service. The deadline is less than two weeks away!

Nominations are open for the Susan Paxton Block Distinguished Public Service Award, which honors exceptional service by a City employee, volunteer, or elected official.
The award winner will receive $1,000, a commemorative medallion, and a lapel pin through the memorial fund established by Susan Paxton Block's family.

Nominations are due Sept. 4 and the award will be presented during the Sept. 21 City Council meeting.
