A FEMA disaster recovery center will be opening at the Katy Mills Mall starting Monday at 7 am.
Open every day from 7 am to 7 pm, the DRC is a place where anyone affected by Harvey (homeowner, renter, or business owner) can meet with a real live person, known as a "recovery specialist," from FEMA or the Small Business Administration who can help you find out what aid you may be eligible for and can even help you fill out the forms.
It is advisable to register with FEMA before going to the center. Bring your insurance information and the routing and account numbers for your checking or savings account to speed up any funding you may be eligible for.

Hurricane Harvey Recovery Efforts by the City of Katy

The Mayor has asked and the National Guard has once again answered. The NG will continue to be here and help us during our recovery efforts. These men and women will be present throughout the City to help homeowners pull debris to the right-of-way and organize piles according to the sorting guidelines. They will not be utilizing any equipment but will be "boots on the ground" to assist our citizens, working directly with the debris management services contractor. The National Guards must have your permission to come onto your property to assist.

We continue to thank all of our volunteers for the tremendous efforts throughout our community during hard time! We are thankful we were proactive and are far ahead of surrounding areas, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. The City of Katy is here to help you! Continue to stay information of all information here and via our website. Thank you and God Bless Katy!

Be Prepared: Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey continues to intensify and is currently at Category 1. We are threatened with imminent severe weather in the City of Katy. Harvey is expected to make landfall as a Category 3 Hurricane Friday evening.

The forecast of rainfall is 15-30 inches in a widespread area. This will bring considerably high rainfall amounts. Flooding is of concern as once this system hits land, it will slow down and/or stall over our area. As we have learned from the Tax Day Floods this kind of slow, training rain bands sitting on us will be an inundation. The City of Katy has been working diligently over the past year grading ditches, cleaning storm drains and other mitigation projects to improve drainage.

We would like to communicate a clear message to our community regarding preparedness. Mayor Chuck Brawner has been meeting with all departments during this week in efforts to prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Harvey. At this time, we would like for our residents and businesses to have due diligence in their part as a team effort for preparedness. Please look around your homes and secure any trash containers, yard art or anything that can be blown into our ditches and drains and potentially clog them during the heavy rains. Please prepare your homes, family and pets to hunker down for this storm. Our heaviest impacts will be from Saturday to Tuesday. When conditions are appropriate, call or check on your neighbors, especially the elderly.

We urge you to take time for final preparations for this storm. Make sure you have emergency supplies on hand. There is a potential for power outages to prepare for also.

Please continue to monitor local forecasts, the National Weather Service, and heed any instructions, notices, alerts, or orders from city officials.

The safety and well-being of our community and responders is our priority and utmost importance not only on a daily basis, but especially during hazardous events such as this.

Fill up your tanks
Charge your cell phones
Get prescriptions filled/refilled
Purchase batteries
Purchase easy to make foods
Do not go out during the event unless absolutely necessary
Please be safe

The City of Katy has been actively planning and preparing for the pending storm. All departments have come together to help in the prevention of and preparat...
