PTSD Awareness Foundation

PTSD Awareness Foundation PTSD Awareness Foundation is a non-profit organization created for all who suffer from PTSD including veterans, first responders and victims of crime.

PTSD Awareness Foundation is a non-profit organization created by Jared Sorensen in 2015. Jared is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in Afghanistan in 2008-2009 and now deals with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on a daily basis. The foundation was created to help those veterans, first responders and victims of crime deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in any way possible. The first goal of the foundation for 2016 is to provide 100 veterans, first responders or victims of crime a device that will track their sleep patterns and better equip them to deal with PTSD. These devices range in price, but are generally $200 per item. Some of the sleep trackers include the Fit Bit and Pebble watch. With the introduction of new applications and technology, those who suffer from PTSD will hopefully be able to sleep throughout the night thus providing a better quality of life. We ask that if you cannot provide a donation, to help spread the word about the foundation, since it was recently formed.

Mission: To assist military, first responders and victims of crimes deal with PTSD, primarily sleep disorders.

Today we remember those who are no longer with us. Let us not forget them and by all means if you are not able to cope and have feelings of hurting yourself please reach out to anyone. We are here for each other.

Just an update on the grants submitted, so far I have received word from Sears, JP Morgan Chase and Dr. Pepper that they are unable to provide any funding.

On the other hand, I received word from Disney in which they stated "We are pleased to honor your request with four complimentary one-day park hopper tickets and are valued at $620.00." They are in the process of mailing the tickets at which time they will be auctioned to benefit the foundation. If anyone has any interest in the tickets let me know as I would like to give the followers of the foundation first shot at them. I will also be auctioning off 2 signed Texans footballs once they return from authentication. As always, thank you to everyone who has supported the foundation and I look forward to the new year.

Respectfully,
Jared Sorensen

Respectfully,
Jared

Good news for the foundation. We recently received our official 501(c)(3) status from the IRS so we are now legit. Thanks to everyone for their support and as always keep spreading the word so we can raise more donations for veterans, first responders and victims of crime.

For all those who deal with PTSD on a daily basis and would like to be considered for a Fitbit watch or other sleep tracker, we have begun to compile a list of those who are in need so that when they arrive, we can distribute them. If you would like to add your name to the list please contact us at [email protected]

In addition, if you have a high school age child that is graduating this year and would like to be considered for the $1,000 academic scholarship you can contact us at the email address listed as well. The only restrictions we have for the scholarship is that the child is a senior in high school and must have a 3.0 GPA and have an immediate family member who has PTSD. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thank you all,
Jared

I know I missed donate Tuesday, but if everyone can help spread the word about the Foundation, I will be greatly appreciative. We have some exciting technology coming out in January of 2016 and we could use the support. Thanks for everything you all do.
Jared
