This is not our usual post. Usually we try to keep the cages out of frame, but today was different β for a beautiful and unexpected reason. πΆπ¦
Today we experimented with music around the sanctuary using a handheld speaker and a playlist full of calming classical and soulful Motown. We started with Weatherford, hoping soft classical music might help calm some of his stress. At first he was unsure, but slowly he moved closer to the sound and simply sat peacefully beside it. No panic. No chaos. Just calm. π
Then came Huli. Classical didnβt impress him much, so we switched to Motown β and instantly he started rocking back and forth in rhythm before loudly singing βlalalalaβ¦β in the happiest little gruff voice imaginable. We never heard him sing before!! π€β¨ We danced together for several minutes and it felt like a real connection.
Even the Cockatoos, usually busy causing chaos, became calm, curious, and completely focused on the music as we moved through the aviaries. From the Greys to the Macaws to the Conures, nearly every flock had a dance move β and every flock wanted more. πΊπ¦π
For over an hour the sanctuary turned into a concert hall filled with Motown, Gladys Knight, dancing parrots, and pure joy. Safe to sayβ¦ a full sanctuary concert is now officially in the works. VIP seating for all parrots included. πΆπΊ
