Kearney/Buffalo County CASA We recruit, screen, train and coach volunteers to be a voice for abused/neglected children in the court system.

Kearney/Buffalo County CASA was established in July of 2012. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. We advocate for children who have experienced abuse/neglect and are in the court system through volunteer advocacy. Our organization has 3 staff and the rest are volunteers from our communities. Mission Statement:
To recruit, train and coach community volunteers to assist the court system

on behalf of abused and neglected children. We strive to advocate for a safe/stable environment, permanency, and the opportunity to thrive. Vision Statement:
We envision a well-trained team of advocates to provide a voice for every abused and neglected child in the court system within our community. Core Values:
Making a difference, compassionate, engaging, reliable, understanding, and educated.

Be sure to check in with yourself and others! If you are struggling, it's okay to ask for help. If someone is struggling, you could change the trajectory of their day and life.

When you are struggling, don't stop, just pause. Keep going. Reach out and hold on to those around you. Never give up.

Many who have experienced so much in their lives, are hurting so deeply, and you may never know or see it. Some of those who have experienced trauma and/or mental health are experts in masking their symptoms and feelings. This is done for many reasons. They may not feel safe enough to share their story. They may not want anyone to know or judge them. They may not be ready to address their struggles. By admitting they're struggling, it may make it too real. Some have only ever known how to keep going, keep smiling, keeping taking care of others.

Always be kind. Many are struggling and could use a friend and kind words.
