Thank you very much.

KPD command staff had a productive meeting today with Andrea Richino, the organizer of Thursday’s planned peaceful protest. Andrea expressed to us her goal, which is to give local folks – particularly younger people – a peaceful and safe platform from which they can be heard. We are in full support of that right and stand ready to assist however we’re needed.

Andrea also addressed some recent inflammatory social media posts that have been spreading today. Andrea assured us that these sentiments were made prior to her experience organizing Monday’s peaceful march and they no longer represent her views. Andrea has issued her own statement to that effect. Those posts should not detract from the overarching goal of ensuring a safe and peaceful venue from which local residents can express themselves.

We want all to know that Andrea and the Kearny Police Department are working hand-in-hand to make this a successful and peaceful exercise of our Americanism. We look forward to standing up the Town of Kearny, its young people, and this police department as a model of community-police partnership for the whole country to emulate.

We look forward to seeing this community shine tomorrow. #kearnyproud

SCAM ALERT:

The Kearny Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating a COVID-19 related email scam that occurred within the Town of Kearny. We just want to pass along a warning so that you will not fall prey to these horrible people who wish to take advantage of the kind nature of Kearny residents. A potential victim received a "spoofed email" that appeared to be from his boss directing him to purchase gift cards. The email stated that the gift cards would be donated to our brave healthcare workers who are currently fighting COVID-19. Please be suspicious of anyone who requests gift cards even if an email appears to come from someone you know. It is VERY easy to "spoof" email.

The FTC has put together a list of tips to avoid this and other types of COVID-19 related fraud. Please find the link below. Stay well everyone!

Local Measures to Help Small Businesses

Parking meter enforcement has been suspended in Kearny.

To assist local essential businesses with take-out and curbside transactions, signs like this have been placed on Kearny Avenue near essential businesses that don’t have off-street parking.

We hope this will help customers get what’s essential in a hurry so they can quickly return home.

Our aim isn’t to take an enforcement posture, it’s to help our community with essential needs.

Thanks for your cooperation. Stay lonely, friends.

I'm a resident of Peden Terrace, as YOU know Kearny is nothing but hills. Where are the salt trucks? The town knew it was going to snow , yet made NO PLANS to ensure resident safety. . It's been snowing for about 2 hours. Cars are sliding down the street onto Passaic traffic and still no salt trucks.
Councilman Al Cardoso, what are you and the Town of Kearny doing to control the Beaver, Opossum and other rodent infestation on Passaic Ave, due to the ongoing constructions along the River? The Beavers, having nowhere to go, are moving across the street and digging holes that are causing my fence and my neighbors fences to shift and become dangerous. Who will pay to get them fixed? The town, the developers? Or the tax paying homeowners living in that area? I'm sure the town's urban planner as well as the developers are aware of this problem and should have taken step to resolve it before it became a problem, for the tax payers. But I am unaware of any solution. Can you help me?
Please explain what their building, in the grass field on Passaic ave, across from Peden Terrace It looks like an out of place and badly made chimney. The only grassy area in kearny, that looked half way decent, is looking more and more like dump.
I would like to just say that today’s snow storm was a little more then what we had all expected. My question is why did the town not prepare for this? Why is Kearny never prepared for this? Some people may disagree, some people may think I’m being rude, some people may not say anything. But as a tax payer in this town I think we all deserve a good answer as too why it’s 9:15pm and Passaic Avenue is still a parking lot. All of the streets in town are sheets of ice. The Tow company’s are all doing the best they can the KPD are doing the best they can, and the KFD are doing the best they can. They can only do as mush as they can with what they can work with. For the roads in this town to be covered and a sheet of ice is completely unacceptable.
I was there in spirit. Congratulations and wish the best to the new Police Officers.
Is this the current police station? If it is it's still the same one when I grew up in Kearny. 1946 to 1964.
