Here is an update on tonight and tomorrow’s forecast in our area.

We will continue to monitor the weather, but please tune in to the local weather channels for detailed updates.

Here's the latest on what you can expect across North & Central TX tonight and Wednesday. The threat for strong to severe storms is expected to increase across Central TX after 3 AM. The main hazard with these storms will be large hail, though damaging winds and a tornado or two can not be ruled out. Heavy rain may also result in isolated flash flooding and river flooding thru Wednesday. Thunderstorms that develop across North Texas are expected to remain sub-severe. Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through Wednesday.

As the temperatures are decreasing tonight, get your home ready for potential freezing temperatures. To prevent leaks, disconnect water hoses and cover the faucets with foam insulators.

Although Johnson County is expected to have minimal impact from this weather event, there is a possibility of light sleet tomorrow morning. Drive safe and give yourself plenty of time to get to work.

Also, please take a moment to bring in your animals. If you are cold, they are cold too.

We will keep you updated as best as we can, but in the mean time, tune in to your local weather channels.

12:30 pm forecast update: A winter storm warning is now in effect for western areas of North Texas. The rest of the watch has transitioned to a winter advisory. The main forecast change is we are expecting more sleet and less snow, but travel impacts still likely!

One of our local citizens, the Ramos family, lost their home and everything in it due to a residential fire this week. We have been approached by numerous community members on how they can assist this family.

Those that are interested in donating gift cards, clothing items, blankets, kitchen items, utensils, etc. can drop off items at City Hall and Pinnacle Bank , during business hours.
(Please no not drop off furniture or large items. Contact City Hall and we will put you in touch with the family).

Mr. and Mrs Ramos have an 11 year old daughter who wears a women's size 8 shoe, She loves music and plays several instruments and is in the middle school band. She also loves Science.
Their son is 15 years old, wears a men's size 11 shoe. He is tall and slim, plays sports and likes basketball.
Mr. Ramos wears a size men's 10 shoe, large shirts and 32/34 in pants.
Mrs. Ramos wears a women's size 8 shoe but we do not have clothing sizes for her (a gift card would be perfect for her).

The out pour of local support for this family has been very heartwarming. Thank you to all that have already helped and those that wish to help and support this family.

From the Weather Forecast Office - Fort Worth, TX

Bottom Line:
A light rain/snow mix is likely on Tuesday morning across parts of North Texas, including the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex. Central Texas (including Waco, Killeen, and Temple) will see cold rain.

Overview:
A strong cold front will pass this afternoon and evening, ushering in much cooler temperatures. Widespread rain will overspread the region by late Monday, and continue into Tuesday morning. Temperatures are forecast to become cold enough to allow for a rain/snow mix near and north of a line from roughly Comanche to Dallas to Paris beginning before sunrise Tuesday. Any accumulations would be light (if any at all) and would be confined to elevated surfaces (e.g. bridges/overpasses, roofs) and grassy areas. Travel impacts should be minimal. For those that do receive accumulating snow, most can expect less than half an inch of snow, however, a few isolated locations could receive locally enhanced snowfall up to 1-3 inches in the grass or on elevated surfaces. For Central Texas, temperatures will likely be too warm to support any frozen precipitation. All precipitation should end across the region by late Tuesday afternoon. Event total rainfall accumulations will likely be one-half to one inch.
