Volunteer members of the Prevention Collaborative of the Kennebunks officially share the 2026 Governor's Proclamation declaring April as Alcohol Awareness Month.

This new collaborative helped draft the document that became the statewide proclamation. Maine Rep. Daniel Sayre, who championed the proclamation as it made its way through the state process, presented the signed version to Kennebunk Police Chief Bob MacKenzie at the Arundel Mason's Lodge on April 10.

Jim Black, Master of Arundel Lodge #76, hosted the meeting of the collaborative this month, and has committed the local Mason's as sponsors for other activities of the collaborative, to include purchasing the decals and posters for Project Sticker Shock, an alcohol awareness activity, as well as sponsoring other new prevention initiatives to be unveiled soon.

Partners like these, volunteering their time and resources in local community collaborations, help make grass roots efforts like this successful. Using various forms of local capital to support prevention efforts is the key to making it all sustainable.

Thank you to everyone for being a part of this effort! If you want to get involved, give us a shout and tell us what you think you can throw into the chowder pot. We welcome any ingredient you can offer!
