Each year, the City of Kenner gives a local student the opportunity to step into the shoes of the Mayor and experience firsthand how local government serves the community. We're proud to recognize our 2026 Mayor for a Day, Kyle Copeland!

The Mayor for a Day program offers students a behind-the-scenes look at city operations, from meeting department leaders and visiting city facilities to learning how decisions are made that impact residents every day. It's a unique opportunity to inspire civic engagement, leadership, and a greater understanding of public service.

Thank you for spending the day with us and learning what it takes to help keep our city moving forward.

The City of Kenner was pleased to attend a recent stakeholder gathering hosted by the Laketown Squadron at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center, bringing together community leaders, partners, and supporters to discuss the future of professional basketball in Kenner at the Ponchartrain Center.

As the NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, the Laketown Squadron plays an important role in developing the next generation of professional talent while also creating meaningful opportunities for community outreach, youth engagement, and local partnerships throughout the city.

We're excited about the positive impact this partnership will have both on and off the court and look forward to supporting the team as they prepare for another exciting season this fall. Be sure to follow for league updates and ticket information.
