11 things you need to know about the LEGION Act

LEGION Act

President Trump has signed into action, the LEGION Act. The LEGION Act - Let Everyone Get Involved in Opportunities for National Service Act. This law now redefines the number of eligibility periods for The American Legion memberships from seven to two. The two eligibility periods are: April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 and December 7, 1941 to present, until a time when the U.S. is no longer at war, which is determined by Congress.

This acknowledges the service of veterans who were previously involved in undeclared periods of war. Veterans who have been honorably discharged and previously denied membership to The American Legion due to the war era restrictions, can now join The American Legion immediately. Please contact your local Post Commander to join. If you need help getting in contact with someone, please call our office at 920-388-7198.

Veterans, if you receive this letter concerning 100% Unemployability and wage match from the VA - DON'T PANIC! This is only to let you know of a change in procedure in collecting the data about employability/earned wages threshold. Where you used to send in the form, VA 21-4140 the VA will now go to the SSA to get the information they need and IF they think there is a question THEN they will send out the form/letter. There is NO ACTION you need to take if you receive this letter. It is purely informational. Please call our office if you need further assistance with understanding this letter or any other issues you may have.
