The Keyport Response to Recovery is an initiative I spearheaded while serving on Borough Council. Together, with the Keyport Police Department we convened a task force uniting community leaders, volunteers, professionals and neighboring resources to combat the opioid crisis and save lives.

As a result, we formed the Keyport Response to Recovery (KRR), committed to breaking down the barriers caused by the stigma of addiction and making recovery possible. The KRR is based on compassion and hope. We believe that access to the right tools at the right time is a step in the right direction. We created a seamless program to close the treatment gap. The KRR offers recovery options at the point of contact with law enforcement officers.

From first response to recovery, we are committed to ending addiction and despair one neighbor, one friend, and one family member at a time. Through our valued partnership with Hazlet's Hope Network, our officers are uniquely equipped to connect a person with a trained Peer Recovery Coach.

Recovery Coaches provide individuals with support and guidance, assist in identifying treatment options and maintain contact to help sustain recovery.

Where there is help there is HOPE!

Over the course of my six years on Borough Council, I worked hard meeting the unique needs of our seniors and disabled residents. I am so proud of my work on the Senior Transportation Committee. It took three long years, but through hard work and commitment, we secured a DOT grant for a 16 passenger van to provide FREE transportation to our seniors and disabled neighbors. The Keyport Skipper provides access to shopping, dining, exercise and social events. We even provide transportation to numerous houses of worship on Sundays. Thanks to the Keyport Skipper our most vulnerable residents are empowered to take part of their vibrant community and enjoy all the splendor Keyport has to offer. This is the type of leadership I have and will continue to offer.

While in office I worked very closely with the Keyport Police Department in addressing substance abuse and the opioid epidemic. Together we came up with the Keyport Reaponse to Recovery. This collaboration as well as our partnership with Hazlet’s Hope allowed us to provide Peer Recovery Coaches to our friends and neighbors battling addiction at the pivotal moment when he/she decided to take the journey to recovery. Today, I am thrilled to have received my official certification and be and a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, myself. Where there is help there is Hope!

As a parent of a High School Junior, I’d like to take a moment to recognize the faculty and staff of the Keyport School district for the outstanding job they’ve done getting our classrooms prepared for our students during these unprecedented times. Parents had to make some difficult decisions for their children. Whether your going to school in-person, virtually or homeschooling, I wish you great success. Happy First Day if School!
