This shy girl was trapped on Sycamore off of Peavine and Fritz Swanson. I assume it’s been a while since she’s had an actual owner but just in case, let me know if she’s your dog.

No microchip. Been in the area for a bit I’m told.

Hey, Kilgore!

Your local animal control is looking for donations of a few things, to continue outreach to animals in need.

I’ve just about handed out all my extra leashes to the public, after educating them on local ordinances and assisting them with items they do not have.

Slip leads
Collars of all sizes
Regular leashes

I’ve personally purchased tie outs for dogs on chains, after education on the Safe Outdoor Dog Act.

Cable tethers, 10’ of greater in length
Stakes for the tie outs

We can also use:
Food of all types
Portable/collapsible bowls
Treats
Cat litter
Gently used towels and blankets

This critter was not picked up in city limits but a kind man got it out of the road and it’s currently safe with me.

Happy Friday, Kilgore!

It was a busy morning assisting animals in ways that the public might not realize we do.

I delivered food to 2 houses in need for their pets, courtesy of our friends at Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center.

I took a puppy in need some dewormer, courtesy of a local rescue.

I spoke to people about voucher and grant programs that can help them with spay and neuter. And I’ll help them further Monday with making those appointments.

I spoke to people about TNR with Wildcatters and dropped off forms to register their colonies.

I’m working with people towards compliance with state laws for animal welfare.

But for the rest of the day my calls are forwarded to Code Enforcement and she will do her best to assist anything that can’t wait until Monday.

I’m in Tyler for training.

If we can get our rabies vaccines, so can your dog. 😉

Also…… if you’re one of those people that likes to feed and mess with wildlife, keep the cost of these shots in mind.

Human rabies shot: $500 + (you need multiple if you get bit)

Dog rabies shot: $18-30 (depending on your vet)

Bite quarantine (if your dog does not have a rabies shot and bites someone): $200-300

Peace of mind: priceless!
