Hey Bucs! Welcome back to Kingston High School!

We’re getting ready for an exciting new school year—and this year is a big one. We’re kicking off our 20th year.

On Friday, August 28, come to Get Back Bucs from 9:30 - 12 and 1 to 3. You will be able to get everything you need to be successful for your first day of school. You can pick up your schedule, textbooks, get your ASB card and spirit wear, request parking permits, apply for a locker, take your school picture, and more.

And while you’re here for Get Back Bucs, make sure you pick up your Chromebook! Having your Chromebook ready to go is an important part of being prepared for the first day of school.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our Open House on Wednesday, September 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

We can’t wait to welcome our students, families, and staff back to campus.

It’s our 20th year—and it’s going to be a great one.

Brian kept his eye on the future all four years, maintaining strong grades while working two jobs throughout high school. Time management was not always easy, but his dad's steady encouragement and his own drive kept him on track.

After graduation, Brian is heading into welding at the shipyard, a skill he sees as a foundation for a career full of possibilities. Down the road, he hopes to grow his own small welding or mechanic business. He is also passionate about scuba diving and has bigger dreams of working as an underwater detective one day. In the meantime, he has his sights set on another goal: getting behind the wheel of a Nissan S15 Silvia. Whatever path he takes, Brian plans to tackle it with the same determination that got him through high school.

Kira's love of science has been with her since childhood, fueled by curiosity about animals, nature, and the "why" behind how things work. At Kingston, her science teachers kept that spark alive, and even when AP Chemistry knocked her down early in the year, she found new study strategies, finished strong, and walked away valuing the challenge more for how hard she had to work for it.

This fall, Kira heads to Western Washington University to study biology or chemistry, with dreams of doing hands-on science work out in the field. Outside of academics, she is a passionate artist who loves sharing her work online. She hopes to make a real difference for the planet through her science career while continuing to create and connect through art.

Students in Ms. Gray-Fritz's AP US History class spent the final weeks of the school year uncovering a fascinating piece of local history right in their own backyard. 🏫

The class researched the US Military site that once occupied the current location of Kingston High School during the end of World War II and into the Cold War. It was a true collaborative effort, with each student taking on a different role. Some interviewed locals who worked on the site, others tracked down documents confirming the presence of nuclear missiles at Kingston, and some overlaid old satellite images with current ones to pinpoint where the missiles were located.

In partnership with the Kingston Historical Society, informational plaques will be created and placed around the KHS campus so the broader community can learn about the history of the land their school sits on today.

Connor found his home in the Kingston High School band program, and he never left. What began as a small community shaped by Mr. Guenther's welcoming approach became the center of Connor's high school experience, a place where belonging mattered more than being the best. Along the way, he placed 3rd at state for trombone solo as a junior, competed at state three times total, and has spent 6 to 8 hours a week volunteering with the Kingston Middle School band program.

Now Connor heads to the University of Washington to study music education and trombone performance, entering as a junior thanks to Running Start. His sights are set on conducting and eventually earning a doctorate in conducting or composition. He hopes to make the music world more welcoming, especially for young women, carrying forward the same spirit of community that shaped him.

✨ CTE Highlight – Business & Marketing ✨

In today's spotlight, we're featuring Leadership & Project Management at Kingston High School. Students invented original products and pitched their ideas in a Shark Tank-style presentation to a panel of sharks including Athletic Director Ed Call, Athletic Secretary Erika Reddick, and Principal Craig Brewster. It was a fun way for students to put their communication and business planning skills to work in front of a real audience.

This course, which develops strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills through project management and leadership principles, connects to the Business Management & Administration Career Cluster, helping students explore pathways in business, project management, and organizational leadership.

⚖️ Throwback to AP Government in action!
What does it take to argue a case before a judge?

Kingston High School AP Government students put their constitutional knowledge to the test during a classroom moot court led by retired Superior Court Judge J. Robin Hunt. Working in teams, students researched legal arguments, applied precedent from landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases, and presented their cases before a panel of judges.
Every student played a role, whether serving as an attorney, presenting arguments, or participating in the court proceedings. The experience challenged students to think critically, defend their reasoning, and see firsthand how constitutional principles are applied in the courtroom.

Experiences like this bring government to life and help students build skills in research, public speaking, collaboration, and critical thinking.

📚 Throwback to an unforgettable learning experience!

Earlier this spring, 62 Kingston High School AP Government and Civics students stepped outside the classroom and into the federal courthouse in Seattle to see the justice system in action.

Students observed part of a real federal court hearing, met with legal professionals, heard from members of the U.S. Marshals Service, and even had the opportunity to try on the protective gear used to help keep the courthouse safe.

Experiences like this bring classroom learning to life, giving students a firsthand look at how our judicial system works and the people who serve within it.

Trinity did it all. She took on challenging coursework, competed in multiple sports, served in ASB, stayed active in her community, and maintained a 3.9 GPA all four years. Balancing everything took real discipline, and teachers Ms. Landvatter and Mr. Boyd were trusted mentors who walked with her through college applications and personal growth along the way. Her advice to incoming freshmen: when things get hard, keep going. The hard work pays off.

This fall, Trinity will attend the University of Washington to study pre-sciences with a focus on biology, with hopes of one day practicing naturopathic medicine. A proud member of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe, she hopes to return home after school and serve her community at the tribal clinic, becoming a familiar, trusted face for the people she grew up with.
