City of Weatherford

Very sad! Our thoughts are with Weatherford Fire and the City of Weatherford.

It is with great sadness and deepest of regrets that the City of Weatherford and Weatherford Fire Department report the passing of Firefighter Richard “Andy” Loller, Jr.

While performing wildland firefighting operations in West Texas, Firefighter Loller, Jr. suffered a medical emergency. He was flown by helicopter to receive medical treatment and was stabilized before being placed on a medical airplane to Odessa to receive further treatment. While in flight, Firefighter Loller, Jr. passed away.

“We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Andy’s passing,” said City Manager Sharon Hayes. “He will be sorely missed by the community and all who knew and worked with him. Our prayers are with his family at this time.”

Currently, arrangements are underway to care for his family. Firefighter Loller, Jr. was 42 years of age and was assigned to Station 36 on A-Shift. He served 13 years in fire service and is survived by his wife, two children and sister. Please take this time to pray for Firefighter Loller, Jr.’s family.

The City of Weatherford will provide further details as they become available and ask media inquiries to be directed to Director of Communications and Marketing Blake Rexroat at 817-598-4209 or [email protected].

We would like to say thank you to the KVFD volunteers who came in yesterday and today to help us complete hydrant maintenance and paint almost 80 hydrant curbs (that's roughly two-thirds of our little city in two days!) We would also like to extend our thanks to the city staff that made this possible and we can't forget Kirby Public Works for the use of their Kawasaki Mule, helping us keep paint out of our expensive new apparatuses and keep us in a response ready state!
